(3) Tuesday BE Games - Nov 14th 2017...

Three games on Tuesday night in the Big East...

Tues Nov 14th 2017
Central Connecticut State at St John's, 6:30pm.
#20 Purdue at Marquette, 8:30pm.
Nicholls State at #6 Villanova.

St John's should be taking a giant step this year. Tuesday is another step on the path. CCSU went Div-1 pretty recently. Their Blue Devils nickname, blue and white colors, etc, are based on Duke. I always wondered why CCSU out of New Britain was Div-1, but not Eastern Conn State of Willimantic, Western Conn State of Danbury, nor Southern Conn State of New Haven... also, why is there no "Northern Conn State"? Also, why do residents of East Haven pronounce their hometown as "Staven"?

I would love to see Marquette rain threes down on Purdue. Go all Loyola Marymount on the Boilermakers. Swanigan is now in the NBA. Tough to find a more exciting player than Markus Howard.

Villanova i just realized is playing their entire home schedule downtown at the Wells Fargo. Looking to get another win for the Big East vs the Southland.

Maybe a 3-0 night?

I would love to see us win but I don't see us pulling it off against Purdue. If I had to pick any game that I was sure we were going to lose, it would be Purdue. We play better teams such as Villanova, but Purdue is the anti-Marquette. Their three starting guards are all 3 and d specialists who are elite at shutting down three point shooters. Throw in an offensive 7 footer in Isaac Haas and you have Marquette's two biggest nightmares rolled into one. Not to mention that it is an early season game and the team with more experience playing together tends to have the advantage. I am hoping for the best but it could get ugly real quick.

CCSU interestingly played Rutgers tough and Rutgers gave us fits. I believe CCSU is something like 320th in the country, so there is no excuse to even come close to losing this game unless they chuck and pray shooting 75% from 3 like Princeton did last night vs. Butler. This is the season we have zero room to lose these kinds of games. Our offense is good but I need to see: 1) better rebounding 2) any effort to score inside...go to Tariq and Clark 3) much improved defense...honestly did not look bad against New Orleans. Just need to convert easy baskets which we missed a lot of last game.

watching Purdue the word Machine comes to mind. Just methodical.

It'll be interesting to see Marquette now vs VCU and Wichita(if they can beat VCU).

I really liked watching Marquette shoot the ball and think they'll outscore a lot of people this year. Howard can be a difference maker. Purdue is just a tough matchup - starting 4 seniors and having Haas in the middle is going to be a challenge for a lot of teams this year.

Absolutely, Purdue is VERY tough. Experience, good shooters and of course the monster inside. I thought Marquette looked very good early on and fought hard.

Nova will probably meet Purdue in Atlantis next week (assuming they get by Tenn and Nova gets by Western Kentucky). It will be their first very tough game against a strong opponent. They make me very nervous. Nova beat them last year because Purdue could not stop Hart. Will be interesting to see how this team handles them.

yeah agree with Purdue- in the KP Continuity ratings- they are #29. Only Northwestern, Minnesota, USC, Penn St, Providence, and Wichita amongst the top 7 conferences have more continuity than Purdue does. And the size- average size for Purdue is 78.0" to "only" 76.3" for Marquette.

Haas had 26 minutes with 22 points 5 rebounds
Heldt and John- 2 tallest for Marquette had 26 minutes also- with 3 points, 1 rebound, and 10 fouls
