The Providence win over UConn will probably be the most impressive of the preseason. I don't know much about Rutgers or LaSalle, so wins there could also say something. It's preseason, so nothing dramatic can be read into any of these games, but things have gone about as expected so far.

Honestly...pretty awesome slate of competition for the Big East today.

1. Carleton U is sort of the Duke/Kentucky of Canada. They've won 13 of the last 15 championships in Canada. PC will have its hands full.
2. VCU lost an exhibition to Liberty the other day, but I expect them to be a bubble team and better than Georgetown.
3. Hanover does not have much size, but they return 4/5 starters from a team that went 26-4 in DIII last year. They got a couple of lethal shooters on their team too.

I'm heading to Hinkle in a couple of hours. Can't believe the season is finally here!

Good job, billyjack! But, St. John's doesn't have a scrimmage with American International. They scrimmage Hofstra today.

Some takeaways for Butler:

1. Team will struggle to score at times. No obvious third scorer.
2. Jorgensen did struggle, but he made bad decisions, which is definitely alarming.
3. Thompson was fantastic and really played with a cool head. LaVall has raved about him all summer. We’ll see how he does against D1 competition, but I would not be surprised if he starts.
4. Defense will be Butler’s specialty. Offense will hopefully come.

Seton Hall won a "secret scrimmage" at Boston College 86-71. Sounds like the Pirates had a slow first half and torched them in the second half
