Good opportunity for the Hoyas. I think they will get the win today.

I agree that it's a golden opportunity for them. Creighton has to be considered the favorite in this one.

Why is Nascar on in place of inside the big east?

Well the game just started so either you were too early or your clock was wrong. I kind of like the Depaul red jerseys. I wonder what their fans think?

Quietest 17000 fans I can remember. Jays up 8, but refs in control.

Jays win going away. I can honestly say that I feel bad for Georgetown fans. Stuck in a tough spot knowing that you probably need to change at the top, but unlikely that it can happen.

Georgetown is in a tough spot. If you make a change, you better get it right. Georgetown's history with a Thompson at the helm is mostly fantastic. Their history without a Thompson is NEC level. Many many historically strong programs have lost their footing after a coaching change. Even a blue blood like Indiana has struggled in the post Knight era. The last 40 years at Georgetown have been mostly excellent, but GT is not a big state school with a rabid fanbase that will stick with them come hell or high water. Many DC fans have no problem rooting for Maryland. If Georgetown falls off, that is exactly what they will do. They can't afford to screw this up. DePaul, St. John's, and Houston were juggernauts during Georgetown's zenith. Joey Myer couldn't maintain it at DePaul, and the other two fell off after Louie, and Guy Lewis retired. Don't think it couldn't happen to Georgetown. They absolutely cannot afford to mess this up. This league is too unforgiving for that. Once you fall off, it becomes difficult to recruit, because 18 year old kids don't remember, or care about how good you were 10 years ago, let alone back in the 80s. They face the additional problem of knowing that dumping Thompson is gonna piss off quite a few influential people in DC. If they bring in the wrong coach, there will likely be people in the local high school, and AAU circuits that will actively work against Georgetown. They have to almost hope that either he gets it turned around, or that they collapse to the point where the locals accept that a change is needed. It's truly a tough situation.
