Georgetown:
Here are the first four Big East games for a 6-4 Georgetown team that entered Thanksgiving at 2-4 before a slate of sub-100 games helped John Thompson III's program move above .500: at Marquette, vs. Xavier, at Providence, vs Butler. Marquette is growing. Xavier is a second-weekend squad (likely more) and a Big East contender. A Providence squad with a top-30ish defense has lost just once since Nov. 17. And Butler just beat Cincy, the favorite in the American, by double digits. That gantlet could swallow a Georgetown squad ranked 43rd in the BPI.

hadn't thought about the early schedule for Georgetown. a loss to Syracuse and then going 1-3 in those 4 games- and Georgetown is at 8-8 with 15 games to go. Would need to go in those 15 games at least 10-5. with the 1st 6 of those games- St John's, UConn, Providence, @ Xavier, Creighton, and @ Butler. Georgetown could be like 3-6 after 1st 9 conference games really easily.

Early Schedule is tough but We get the Butler and Xavier at home. Hoyas could just as easily go 3-1 in those first 4 games. I know I'm a homer, but IMO Xavier is not as good as they were last year nor is Providence. Butler I haven't gotten to see them enough of yet to make that call. Hoyas for all their warts so far are still a better team than they were last year. So I think we have a real chance to make noise in conference play. Also schedule gets easier down the stretch with 2 games against depaul and one against st. Johns in the final 9.

Also beating the AAC favorite doesn't mean much these days. About as much as beating the ASun favorite. :D

There aren't a whole lot of 4 game stretches in the Big East that wouldn't be considered a gauntlet.

X is nowhere near as good as we were last year at this time, but once the transfers, freshmen, and Gates find their roles and Myles comes back in conference play, we will be very, very good again. Don't judge them based on the early season, there are a lot of new pieces out there and were still missing Myles Davis, who I think will be a huge boost in many ways. I'm confident X will get much better as the season rolls on.

Still, I think Georgetown is a very good team and there's no reason for anyone to overlook them. Pryor and Peak are as good a tandem as there is.

Also, Cincy is a good win, but I agree it would be easier to just say that Butler is very good this year. They're ranked 18th it speaks for itself.

Is it confirmed that Myles Davis is going to be reinstated for conference play?

Yes, Sometime between the Providence and Villanova games Dec 28.-Jan 10 most likely. I mean there's always the possibility he does something dumb but I doubt it.

Could you imagine how different Georgetown would look if they hadn't blown that lead against Maryland? If they hadn't of gotten embarrassed by Ark St?

They could also go 1-3, as the article stated, in those 4 games. You may say, they're better than they were last year, but IMO that's debateable. We'll find out over the next month and a half how good or bad are the Hoyas.
