One of the Marquette blogs is taking a crack at ranking the top 50 players in the Big East. This is the first segment.

I think sima, Lovett, and Garett might be low but hard to say until the full list is out.

Eli Cain will not end up being the 45th-best player in this year. He's probably the most underappreciated guy in this league. Gonna have a good year.

This list is off to an interesting start to say the least.

When we were creating the list, we really tried to look at not just the numbers of each player, but who each player was getting those numbers for. That is to say, we often looked at "if player X, were on the same team as player Y, who would have had the better stat line?" With Eli Cain, we had a hard time seeing him getting playing time on any team other than Depaul or St. John's.

That's an accurate take. I asked the guy (in his comments section) what the selection criteria was? Hopefully he will put it out there for folks to take a look. Seems highly slanted on surface appearances.

That's fair.

great list. I may not necessarily agree with the ranking, but this is in-depth analysis of each player and their situations. Better than any articles by so called experts.

Agree, definitely put a lot of time into it. I'll wait to see the rest of the list to judge it.

So Eli Cain wouldn't start for MU? Not sure about that... only time will tell but I think thats kind of a bs way of ranking players.
