Isnt this Villanova's first year in the national category? Starting out at 50 is pretty huge. Creighton has been #1 in regional midwest rankings for 14 straight years, im always curious what they would be if they went into the national category.

Probably comparable as Nova seemed to hold the distinction as #1 in their region for several years running.

I'm just happy that MU held serve at 86 as we've been on a slight decline the last couple of years. We recently changed the way we try to recruit students and the results have not been exactly thrilling. Hopefully we can right the ship in that area because with the new programs and new athletics performance research facility in the pipeline we should be attracting a lot more research money in the coming years which could help us rise more in the rankings.

Looks like Nova got bumped into the National category because Carnegie elevated them from Master's University to Doctoral University in February. From the article:

"U.S. News uses the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education—the leading framework for recognizing and categorizing the diverse institutions in higher education—as the basis for its “Best Colleges” ranking system. In February, Carnegie elevated Villanova to the Doctoral Universities category from the Master’s Colleges and Universities category. With this new classification, Villanova appears on the National Universities list in the U.S. News “Best Colleges” ranking for the first time this year. While classified in the Master’s Colleges and Universities category, the University had been ranked as #1 on the U.S. News Regional Universities North list for the past 23 years."

Hopefully PC's school of business can improve. It was created in 2008 and just received AASCB accreditation in 2012. A new building is underway.

PC had the same situation with Villanova, until they moved categories this year.

Is that a typo (in us news) that Butler's endowment is only 19 mil? If not why so low?

So the businesswire story doesn't elaborate on what exactly Nova did to jump to doctoral... I thought national university was all based on research grant dollars, is that correct. I saw Nova was regional No. 1 for 23 years, I'd say creighton has been longer than that in the Midwest...

Very interesting link thanks for sharing and CONGRATS NOVA (seems like this is Nova's year).
