just saw from Rothstein:
The Big East is now expected to release its conference schedule for the 2016-17 season next Tuesday, sources told @CBSSports.

while feels late- it's really pretty normal. with all the pro arena's it's pretty typical this late...

I kind of doubt it. Part of it is the calendar. NYE is a Saturday this year.

You go from Jan 1 until Mar 5- that's 9 weeks. They've liked to have 2 byes in the schedule. Well, if you start on NYE, that would be only 1 bye for the rest of the season.

Also, the CFP semifinals this year are on Saturday- and they won't go up against that.

@HolyLandofHoops: Big East schedule release next week. Conference openers I'd like to see: Hoyas at Nova, CU at XU, SJU at PC, Marq at Hall, DePaul at BU.

Kill me now. But I guess someone has to play DePaul...

I'd kind of like to see-
CU @ Hoyas
Nova @ Hall
SJU @ X
DePaul @ PC
BU @ Marq

With on Dec 27 DePaul/PC, CU/Hoyas
Dec 28 SJU/X, Nova/Hall
Dec 29 BU/Marq

I think the CU/Hoyas game has developed into one of the better rivalries.

I would be disappointed if Nova wasn't at home to open conference play. I think if you win the national championship, you've earned that. I put Georgetown there because of the traditional Big East rivalry. I think XU and CU challenge Nova this year.

My openers would be:
Seton Hall @ Nova rematch of BET
Xavier @ Creighton battle of the next two highest projected teams
Marquette @ Georgetown middle teams battle it out
Providence @ Butler middle teams battle it out.
DePaul@ St Johns battle for the basement

Since when is Gtown a middle team? Last I checked they played on the first day of the BET too.

1) These are based on my projections of the likely coaches poll.

2) I had a top 4 Nova, Seton Hall, Creighton, Xavier; A middle 4: Marquette, Georgetown, Providence and Butler; and a bottom 2: St. John's and DePaul. That's where Georgetown finished last year in my "Middle" group not in the bottom 2 group like St. John's and DePaul did.

3) Now I just like to prod you St. John's fans because you think I hate St. John's and target them. Which just isn't true. I hate all the other BE teams equally.
