Bummer. Injuries has derailed his career. He still did not look healthy this summer in summer league play. Played very sparingly and did not play well.

We have the depth to absorb this loss this year, but down the line could hurt more.

Sucks he's transferring because he is a good kid. Hopefully the extra year off will get him back to 100%.

I disagree it will hurt in the future however. As you mentioned we are deep in his position 17-18 (year he will be eligible again).

Copeland (Sr.)
Peak (Sr.)
Johnson (Jr)
Derrickson (Jr)
Agau (Sr)
Mourning (Sr)
plus any other potential recruit in the 2017 class

That assumes copeland and Peak come back for their senior year which isn't guaranteed

I've been waiting to have that discussion for two years. They were both on the team last year that missed the NCAA's, I'll wait to see how the season pans out.
Even still that still leaves four other available bodies.

Sure but take out peak and copeland and the only remaining player who can play the 3 is Johnson. We'd be fine at PF but would have no SFs.

Things this far in the future always work themselves out. Mulmore and Pryor are prime examples. As for Peak and Copeland, I'll wait and see how the season goes. If they both leave, I would assume the team had a GREAT SEASON and recruiting would be reflected accordingly in a positive manner.

I always thought of them as 4 year players? Has the idea been for them to leave after this year?

Like most Div 1 kids, probably in their minds. Copeland out of high school was comparable to Otto Porter. Most Hoyas fans would have been glad for two years. Peak shined with his athleticism from Game #1 his Freshman year and at that point we were happy he came back. Now this is year three and they are also now upper classmen. I could actually see Peak making the league after this saeson if he plays like the end of last year and keeps his acumen to foul in check. Copeland has to be tougher and play defense. I can see Copeland making an ill advised decision and declare and a team taking a flyer in the 2nd round.

Peak also already has a kid so that could cause him to want to go out and get a pay check.

Copeland has the athleticism to be a first round pick but he'd have to play a hell of a lot better this year to get drafted. But coming out of high school he was a 5 star by some services I believe.
