This guy is a major insider. Unfortunately, the article is behind a paywall.

Based on UCONN's forum the article seems to point towards UCONN possibly planning to join the Big East and stay in the AAC as a football only member if the Big 12 leaves them out.

While some UCONN fans despise the C7 most seem unanimous that it would be a necessary move a long as the football can stay in the AAC.

yeah pretty much no chance in hell the AAC would let UConn say in the AAC for football only. UConn fans are absolute morons if they really think the AAC would allow that.

Blaudschun's inside info on Big East realignment was almost comical. He acted like he knew what was happening and was wrong time and time again. He strikes me as a guy looking to lure in people with a headline to grab clicks.

Was it? I didn't follow the Big East break up but I thought he was the first to know about the C7 splitting and the new additions.

That's reality. Why would the AAC let UConn do that? UConn football doesn't do a damn thing for the AAC at all whatsoever. No chance. Just dumb to even think that.

why would the AAC let UConn do that? There is one sport good for UConn, and it's not football. So why would they let UConn take the sport that they are good at away from the AAC, but keeping a sport where to say they are mediocre is probably being nice. What exactly is in it for the AAC? Especially since they probably know that w/o UConn parking their football in the AAC, there is no viable option for football otherwise.

Frankly this probably is a lot more to do with if the AAC loses Cincy and Houston, UConn would force the addition of a bball only like Wichita or VCU to make the loss of Cincy a lot more palatable. That's what is far more likely.

Stever,
You can't have it both ways - either UConn football is good enough to be a contender for the B12, in which case its a major catch for the AAC, or its not, in which case UConn is never getting a P5 invite, and might as well shelve their football chances.

That doesnt mean UConn in the Big East is a thing.
Unfortunately for UConn, the AAC can play hardball by using UConn football as a hostage - UConn needs the AAC more than the AAC needs UConn. Thats the reason UConn won't join the Big East. If they dont make the B12 cut, itll be in their interest to, but they don't have the leverage.
