If this Wally Ellenson scenario is true. Not smart to push out a lottery pick's (probably only) brother out the door. I hope this isn't true, this would be a classic Coach K move.

So bring Wally on to get henry then jettison Wally after Henry turns pro? Total total dick move.

It is a dick move. But I am pretty sure Wally will still have a track and field scholarship to fall back on. I think he is like an olympian level high jumper.

Yeah, I read that he is an All American high jumper.

Wally will not be on scholarship for the basketball team but will still have a scholarship for the track team. Everyone knows Marquette needs another big for next year and unfortunately this means recruiting over players. I'm not positive but Wally cannot be on a track scholarship and walk on for the basketball team.

You guys all saying its a dick move are lucky enough to have had recent success let's not forget MU was supposed to be a stalwart and has fallen harder than any progra (probably in the country) over the past three years. If this is what it takes to get us to who we were from 2002-2013 I'll sleep fine at night.

My theory is that if Henry had stayed Wally would have been on the team but since Henry left Wojo takes it out on Wally.

Wally Ellenson No Longer With Men’s Basketball Program

BIG EAST high jump champion will remain on scholarship in track & field in 2016-17

Milwaukee – Junior guard Wally Ellenson is no longer a member of the men’s basketball program, but will remain on full scholarship with the track and field program at Marquette University until graduation, head coach Steve Wojciechowski announced Thursday afternoon.

“We appreciate the contributions Wally has made during his two years with the program and wish him the best of luck the remainder of the season in the high jump and moving forward,” Wojciechowski said.

Ellenson, who transferred prior to the 2014-15 campaign after spending two seasons at Minnesota, appeared in 29 games for the Golden Eagles last season after redshirting and averaged 1.9 points and 2.2 rebounds per contest in an average of 8.8 minutes per game.

The Rice Lake, Wisconsin native is a four-time All-America selection in the high jump and claimed the BIG EAST Conference indoor and outdoor titles in the event in 2015.

Also, freshman walk-on Christian Haffner has been granted his release as requested and will continue his basketball career at another institution.
