Nica pick up

4 star recruit, top 40 rated player out of high school.

In three years the conference is going to be on a different level than it is now. We can really thank FOX for the way theynhave promoted the brand.

Great pickup Johnnies. I have always liked Simon's game. He got caught in the shuffle at Arizona as they continue to bring in more and more guards. He should prove to be a good one for St Johns.

brick by brick is the way they Johnnies need to build this. Guys like Simon who will be 5th year seniors are much more valuable than the quick hitter route.

Imagine if they got Cheick Diallo. What good would that have done? Guy was not ready to contribute on a high level out of high school and wants to go pro ASAP. Same with Rawle Alkins. That kid wasn't going to make a difference for St. John's in the next year or two as he cannot do it alone.

Need the slow and steady pace in Queens and things will work out five. This is a five year plan, not a five month fix.

If we get Livingston (a big bruiser), he will help alot. Bang against those big boys down low.

Again if we get him, then I'm saying nit next year, if that happens then we should get 18-19 wins.
In 17 we tack on 5 or 6 more wins and that's 23-4 wins in 17.

So it may not be as slow as some on here may think. They are killing it recruiting.

"St John's will be a team to watch out for" @Marv_Time15 @simon_Says_so eager to return program to prominence http://nyp.st/1VmKb56 #sjubb

“That third year could be an incredible year, I feel,” said Simon, who has to sit out next season and then will have three seasons of eligibility, in a phone interview. “[Mullin] is getting the pieces and players he wants. I feel like the time will come and we’ll all be ready and St. John’s will be a team to watch out for.”

St. John's will have 3 guards coming in ranked on Rivals 62 or higher. Justin Simon - 24 , Shamorie Ponds - 42 and Marcus Lovett - 62. Nice !

I am thinking 2019 before St. John's realistically thinks about making the NCAA tournament. I would not mind being wrong on that. And I would not be shocked if they were in the bubble conversation by 2018. I also wouldn't be shocked if the whole rebuilding thing takes a lot longer.

Congrats to St. John's. The Johnnies will obviously be improved next season, but I think in 2 years you might be looking at one of the best back courts in the Big East. Mullin and his staff are working their asses off on the recruiting trail and it is paying off.
