1. Defeated a National Champion in the year that team won?
2. Hosted a Defending National Champion?
3. Defeated a Defending National Champion?

Providence, Xavier and Seton Hall can all answer 2016 Villanova for question #1.
Obviously #2 will all be met next year for those members of the exclusive Big East Conference of National Champions.
I doubt anybody picks up #3 next year :-)

Villanova Answers:
1. Louisville 2013
2. Connecticut 2012
3. Georgetown 1985

Weird thread.

1. Uconn 2011

2. Uconn 2012

3. Uconn 2012

I'm guessing that Georgetown's will be very similar. Was this supposed to be some type of bragging thread?

When is the last time your team was knocked out of the Conference Tournament and NCAA Tournament by a team that would go on to play in the NCAA Championship game?

Providence: 2016

St. John's beat UConn in 2011.

UConn finished 9th in the conference that year so a lot of Big East teams beat them.

It is not a bragging thread. These three things don't happen very often. It's a once a decade, sometimes longer, type of event.

marquette beat thise uconn teams. How far do you have to go back for the next occurrences? Over a decade? Several decades? If it weren't for kemba walker would marquette's answer be something in the 1970's?

Nova has not defeated a defending national champion in 31 years
Outside that 2013 win over Louisville I cant thnk of the time prior that they defeated a champion in a season
Obviously hosting the national champs is more frequent for the C7 schools, but when is the last time xavier, Creighton or butler have done so?

When is the last time St. John's beat a defending champ?
they beat uconn in 2000 (those were some good johnnies teams under Jarvis)
They beat georgetown in 1985 and villanova in 1986

Villanova beat georgetown in 1984. So the louisville win in 2013 was the first time in almost three decades that nova beat a champion in the season they won. And as mentioned above, I don't think villanova has beat a defending national champ in 31 years (going on 32 next year!).

Like I said, it's not an every day thing.

But what are the answers to 2 and 3?

Will next season be the first time that xavier has hosted the defending champs? (The 1962 and 1963 crosstown shootouts were at Cincy those years)

Xavier will likely be favored against Nova at the Cuntas next year. If xavier wins, will that be the first time xavier beats a defending national champ? (Cincy beat xavier in the early 60's games)

And prior to this year when was Xavier's last win against a team that won the tourney that season?

Thanks for the info
