Good College Football As It Relates To College Hoops

Some Big Ten fans like to say they have the best college basketball and then brag about their football teams. I don't get it. Don't these people realize that good college football usually means you aren't going to compete in hoops? At least SEC fans understand this and dont try to equate the two.

How many times have legitimate college football schools won it all in basketball?

Florida 2006, 2007
UCLA 1995 (are they still a legit football school?)
Michigan 1989

I think Michigan State is good at football now, but 15 years ago their football team was an afterthought, correct?
Maybe Arkansas? No idea if people consider them to be a legit football school.
Louisville is sort of a johnny come lately program, i dont think people consider them to be a football power.

Ohio State, Texas, Oklahoma and Michigan and Florida seem to be the only schools to have figured out how to compete in both sports.

It seems like the formula is to be in a conference that pays you enough to fully fund hoops but either neglect football, or in the Big East case not have to fund football at all.

Outside of the three teams mentioned above, that seems to be the formula.

Champions the past 50 years:
Duke
Kentucky
Unc
Uconn
Villanova
Kansas
Syracuse
Maryland
Arizona
Unlv
Indiana
Georgetown
Nc state
Louisville
Marquette
Michigan state
Arkansas
Florida
Michigan
Ucla

20 schools have won the championship in the past 50 years.
3 are traditional football schools.
1 (arkansas) might be good at football (i dont know).
Another 2 put no effort into football when they won (msu and lville).
14 of them dont care about football at all.

I dont think this is a coincidence.

Nova doesn't care about football? They won the actual NCAA championship a few years ago in football!
