On the surface, looks like a good but not great hire. I know he took Okie to a few tournaments and was a decent recruiter. Could have done worse...

he did go 23-9 in his last 2 years with UMass in the A10(albeit a weaker A10 than now)....

According to Jeff Borzello via Twitter, SLU has actually NOT made an official hire yet.

Not a bad hire by any means (assuming its true) and I definitely think he'll get them back to being competitive in the A10, but I was hoping they could land Dooley or Drew- each of which would likely use SLU as a stepping stone job but could bring the kind of success that may make the Big East give them a long, hard look in a few years.

Ford has his work cut out for him, but he was decent coach at OK State and he took an EKU program that hadn't been to the NCAA tourney in 25 years to the dance. It could be a decent hire but we'll see. I wish them the best of luck.

I wish they hired Herb Sendek.

Now they've officially hired Travis Ford. Hopefully he brings them back to the dance. SLU along with Gonzaga are by far my favorite non-BigEast CBB teams.

+1

I'm rooting for the Billikens to be the next Xavier/Butler of the A10. I REALLLY hope Ford can to that and do it fast.

After making a couple they take off a decade (or four) in between. Your grandkids may be around though.
