To the Xavier fans...

Your team was awesome this year. It was a pleasure to watch. So many great moments. Such a nice identity.

You played well tonight, but the other teams try too. They hit a lucky shot, and I am sure you guys are crushed. As a big east fan, my heart sunk when that shot went in.

I will never join those in this board who will try to disparage this season, make you look down on this season, tell you that your team or coach doesn't have what it takes. It's a single elimination tournament. Uconn doesn't get by saint josephs in overtime in 2014, or Juan Dixon or tyus endey don't hit last minute shots in their respective years, well, you get the point...

Your team was awesome this year. You had a top ten team most of the year. You had a top five team for weeks. You hosted one of the biggest games in all of college basketball this year.

I know the haters will say that doesn't matter. Only March matters. Well, they are wrong. Your team accomlished a ton this year. Your team helped to increase the big east brand this year. I am proud of your guys. I am happy they were so good all year.

Oh yeah,
Preseason #4 next year! You take the over or under in that call?

Great job by the players, coaches and fans this year. It was a special season. That game cannot, and will not, take away the success of the season for the team.

March, particularly that in 2016, is crazy. Michigan State? Done. Kentucky? Done. California, Baylor, Texas, Arizona, West Virginia - all upset. The PAC-12, in particular, got destroyed this year in the tournament. Does that mean they are a terrible basketball conference? Absolutely not - it just means March happened.

First order of business needs to get Mack a slight bump in salary and make sure he doesn't look for other opportunities, ala Mick Cronin to UNLV.

No reason to feel down, X fans. You were one of the strengths of the Big East this year.

Great season. Hope Reynolds comes back. They will be a top 10 team if he does. Too bad the way the season ended, I really thought this X team was built for a long run....

Team was built for the long run. Lousy offensive foul call followed by a miracle shot and the season is over. Sucks. They don't call the foul and xavier scores and suddenly we have xavier as a 5 pt favorite to go to the elite 8.

Like I said. It sucks

But that's why people who have tunnel vision on March are clueless. Those who say what you do in november through February doesn't matter are idiots. Xavier brought the league a ton of respect thisyear. A ton of respect.

And xavier's regular season this year was more valuable to the big east than last year when they drew a soft ride to the sweet 16 as a 6 seed. this season has much more staying power and long term benefit than last year. Not even close really.

HugeFan, very nice post and I agree completely. Congrats to Xavier on a great season. The tournament is a SOB, and one loss should not take away from what a tremendous season you had.

HugeFan, who is your team by the way?

Quality post

Hey Xavier fans, you better hope the St. John's fans don't start PM'ing you. they would rather lose 18 conference games than win 30 games but lose a tight game in the round of 32. Hopps22 and a couple others have said this a bunch this season.

You guys had a gr8 season. Hold your heads high. And you have been to the second weekend enough where you know you will be back.

ChestR, does his writing style not provide a clue or two? Pretty sure I know who "HugeFan" roots for.

To X fans, tremendous year for you guys. You did the conference proud all year.

Already mentioned but this years tournament is a testament to a fortunate draw, a few fortunate bounces and a fortunate whistle in critical situations. Fans too often feel that a higher seed (1,2,3) should just automatically pass through to the S16 because it is their right and when they don't they should be regarded as a lesser team. That's BS.

Take Nova & X this year. Both played 7 seeds, both from the same conference. But I will freely admit that I'm damn glad we got Iowa and not Wiscy. One team trending up the other down. One battle tested and mentally tough, the other ready to fold at the first punch. Now I don't think Nova loses yesterday even if they are playing Golden State but as last years draw benefitted X and not Nova, this year was the opposite. Wiscy in '16 is NC St in '15 or UConn in '14. Just a tough spot, vs teams with exceptional talent who can really play. X wins 6-7/10 in a series but in one game anything can happen and often does.

You guys owe nothing to this conference. You did your part and as a Nova fan am damn glad to have you guys be part of this great conference. Your success or failure does not validate how good Nova is or any other BE program. You guys, us, Butler, now PC, previously Gtown, CU and Marq, hopefully SHU moving forward, know that March is a crap shoot and is tough. Yesterday's single game result should NOT define the X 2015-16 season.

Having had some time to calm down. I really think we pr ably were overrated. We are still very young and our veteran players, while great, are still A 10 caliber talent. Koenig shot right over Myles Davis. And having a freshman PG never was going to work out come tourney time. I expect us to be better prepared next year.
