I have zero problem with people standing at the game....

Why does it matter that it was not their gym?

They had more interest in the game and spent more money to get there than some PC fan that thinks the Dunk is their's for a tourney game.

The atmosphere seemed great all weekend again at that regional.

Gregg Marshall just said this would be the last time he would be sitting on the podium with his guys (his seniors) unless he coaches them in the NBA one day. Is he hinting that there's a big chance he would leave WSU to coach in the NBA? Thinking in the near future

Thanks for the post Friar. Welcome to our past reality. I actually like their BB team, because they play with a lot of heart, but their fans are the worst. Take any fan base you hate and you can triple that with Wichita. We have been gone three years and they are still compelled to put down Creighton and the BE (Or the Big Least as they call it --or mid major East). This from fans of a team in a conference rated 13th this year. I have never understood the need to trash conference rivals, but the fans of Wichita have that need. They do that to everyone who has the gall to beat their team. Heaven help them if Gregg M ever leaves!

I'll one up your Wichita st fans with Dayton fans. You've seen how dayton fans have tried to assimilate themselves onto a board they have zero affiliation with, with our fantastic Board ADMIN banning them for posting under various names. They've pretended to be fans of other teams to incite fights among us. As far as a more up close example: These articles were written by the biggest Dayton homer to, so you can imagine how bad it actually was.

A friend of mine was there and the "C" word was used in every way possible. Remember, Christi is a Hall of Fame DAYTON basketball player that was known for her toughness. Can you imagine what was said to bring a woman like that to tears? The great Temple coach, John Chaney, hated going to play there and had some words to describe the city and their fans. Most of what he said could not be printed for overly graphic reasons, but he likened their fans and Dayton to "being out in the sticks". There supposedly was a racist element to it as well.

I've been told of no less than 30 different incidents over the years when X fans visited that UD arena that included everything from verbal abuse, to physical confrontations, to lewd acts in bathrooms, to throwing a beer on a guy because he was wearing a Xavier shirt, to a friend of mine who was there with his wife and six year old who left a game because a bunch of drunk, redneck, assholes were dropping fbombs, making lewd remarks to his wife, while trying to pick a fight with him. And you better not have anything on your car that links you to Xavier as you are lucky if it just gets keyed. I don't care what the context of a conversation is, you just don't say things like, "oh, they fly charter. Well I hope their plane crashes killing all those f*ckers".

I've never had problems with their players, and Archie Miller is an excellent coach. Their fan base though is a delusional, uneducated, group of trash. That surely sounds harsh, judgmental, and over the top. And I really wish it was.

Seems like abnormal, obnoxious behavior to stand the entire game to me. I wasn't at the game so can't say for sure that it was obnoxious, but having attended college basketball games all of over the country I can say that it is 100% abnormal. And the fact that it screws thousands of people behind them, including elderly and kids, well if you agree with that I hope your season tickets are not in front of mine when I'm 80.

But hey, whatever floats your boat. If you want to be annoying, ignorant and abnormal, be annoying, ignorant and abnormal. Most people understand when normal people stand at a game.

Anyway, I went into the game rooting for a non P5 as I always do, but after reading that post from someone at the Dunk I watched the second half hoping WSU fans would be bounced from the dance.

Maybe Dayton and Wichita should have a home and home, so the fan bases could have a real love fest!

Chris Mack said: “You hear things everywhere you go — you’re human. On the sidelines, you’re trying to focus on the game, but I heard it. There’s really nothing you’re going to do during the course of the game. You’re going to try to coach your team and deal with whatever happens after the game.

“It was unfortunate. But my wife and I — and for that matter, our whole program — understands it’s just one or two knuckleheads. It doesn’t reflect the entire (UD) program or its fans. Other than that, we were treated very kindly — except on the court on Saturday.”

for the record, this is Chris Mack's comments on the ugly episode. re: the various accounts the X poster references- I've been to probably 20 X @ UD games in the UD Arena and never witnessed any X fan bothered in any fashion but as the X poster has stories UD fans have made similar claims at games in Cincinnati. The players, coaches and administrators did let the series get toxic (players refusing to shake hands), taunting etc.

re: Wichita St fans...they were at the UD Arena earlier this week and 3 of them in what would be considered UD season ticket holder allotted section/seats. They stood and supported their team for long periods of time, apparently they have some opening and half time tip standing and clapping tradition until some point both and whatever triggered them to sit was extended in both halves. I was 2 rows away behind them and while I found them annoying to my knowledge no one asked them to sit down, no ushers asked them to sit down and never did I see them do anything other than support the Shockers.
