On another thread, someone suggested that Willard might be the COY in the conference. I can see the argument: young team, got them to buy in and they are playing as well as anybody right now it seems. Last year they collapsed due to chemistry issues, but those seem to be distant memories. SH has a ton of talent and yet until two weeks ago (when they seemed to finally click and starting really playing consistently well), they were middle of the pack in the conference. And they were picked to finish upper tier this year. So it appears that they got hot late to make the early season predictions come true. That and "didn't collapse like last year" seems like setting the bar pretty low. I'm just not sure that is the scenario from which the COY comes. Don't get me wrong. SH is playing well--everyone has complementary skills and they seem to like to play together, share the ball, etc., and the coaching staff surely deserves credit for that, but that's what coaches are paid to do.

Now I'm a homer, and I know there is no way he will win it, but I think McD has to get serious consideration. The Jays were picked to finish 9th this year, and if they split their next two games, they'll finish a strong 4th. And this with their "best" player (Cole Huff) being injured for most of the year and definitely not being the contributor (both scoring and rebounding) that everyone expected. Remember: Huff was by all accounts considered to be the best player in practice all last year when he sat out during his transfer season. I give Mo Watson a ton of credit for enabling the Jays to be as successful as we have been this season, but the coaching staff has done a tremendous job piecing together a bunch of new players, MVC recruits, and a walk-on to help us get to where we are this year. I think it's been truly incredible.

Do I think he wins it? No. Either Jay or Mack gets it without a doubt. Still, I'm pretty happy to have McD on my team's bench.

SH was picked to finish 7th. Just barely ahead of Creighton (27 to 23 votes).

I don't think it's a lock at all that Wright/Mack get it. I think Willard may be the favorite now quite frankly....

Willard would get my vote but I have a feeling it will be Mack b/c X has been a Top 10 team all year and SHU has yet to crack the Top 25.

And I have to say that I know Jay W doesn't have much of a chance because of this perception that he has a huge stable full of horses, and he just opens the gates but... Good chance that this will be the 3rd straight year with only 2 conference losses. People just gloss over how consistent Nova has been like it's no big deal. But this is a really good conference, and each team gives Nova it's best shot every game. I mean we have another Top 10 team in conference who has lost 4 times this year. That's no knock on X, but a testament at how hard it is to get up for 18 games against some of the other quality teams in this conference.

46-6 is a ridiculous achievement in a conference of this quality.

Not sure how much merit the OOC record has. But Mack went undefeated.

I THINK that may be a false statement tomorrow regarding Seton Hall. They should be in the top 25- pretty darn easily IMO.

I would have said mack prior to today's loss. Now it is jay wright.

What's your definition of upper tier? The coaches picked Seton Hall to finish 7th and the poll on this board picked them 8th (with a lot of 9th and 10th place votes). Full credit to Wright and Mack, they've been excellent and are both worthy winners, but my vote goes to Willard as, with 3rd place all but locked up they've exceeded expectations far more than anyone else.

Willard probably deserves it the most this year.

That said, I think he's one of the worst coaches in the league.
