I see a bunc of the draft sites have moved him from the lottery to the second half of the first round (19 on NBA draft net, 18 on hoops hype)
Maybe he will return to try to improve his draft stock next year? If so, marquette will be very good next yr. I hope he returns

Yeah, huge decision. If he returns, Marquette will be upper half next year. If not, they will drop.

Doubt we drop, there's a natural progression with everyone else having experience. Henry would get Marquette back to being Marquette circa 2002-2013 but without him we won't be worse.

Gotta remember, every Big East team will be better or the same next year except Butler and Providence IMO.

I think Marquette will be better with or without Ellenson. Cheatham, Cohen, carter are all pretty good players.
But with Ellenson and they move into that top tier projection with Xavier, seton hall, nova and gtown.

Very true but we are the 4th least experienced team in D1 and top to bottom, we likely return more minutes of experience than any team in the conference (easy when you only graduate a walk on). Next based on recruiting rankings Marquette has the most former top talent on the roster so if I were a better man I'd take the highly touted players developing faster than say a decent player. Finally you've also got to look at the minutes played, for example Haanif Cheatham will likely develop quicker than other freshmen because he's playing huge minutes in clutch time.

Ellenson is not a 2nd half 1st rounder. I guess some of these guys have never seen him play. There are not 17 better picks imho. Top 10 for sure.

My guess, and it is just a guess, is that if he falls out of the lottery then we keep him another year. If not, then we are 50/50 on keeping him. He seems to really like college, is very close with his brother, and doesn't need money right now. That said, I hope he does whatever he thinks is best for him. We will be decent either way, likely an NCAA team, but with Henry we are surefire top 25.

Next year's draft will be deeper than this year's. I'd be surprised if he comes back.

I think Ellenson's gone.
And I think Marquette will be better next year regardless of his decision. Obviously better with him than without him, but the young guys are definitely developing and should take another step up during the offseason.
If Wojo can land Markus Howard you can immediately slide Cheatham off of the ball and go:
PG: Howard/Carter/Rowsey
SG: Cheatham/Wilson/Rowsey
SF: Johnson/Cheatham
PF:Ellenson /Hauser or if Ellenson leaves then Hauser/????
C: Fischer
In my opinion, Marquette makes a bit of a jump next year regardless of Henry's decision. How big that jump is though depends on both Ellenson's and Markus Howard's decisions.
