Richard Fruedenberg has orally committed to the Johnnies. Fran Fraschilla calls him a top 50 level recruit. 247 sports ranks next years class as No. 17 in the country and no. 1 in the BE. If Alkins also commits the class is projected to then be ranked No 2. Next year they'll still be pretty young and there will be some growing pains along the way, but two years from now they should be ready to roll. Right now NC State and St. Johns are considered the leaders for Alkins.

Great news for the Johnnies. Seems like this has been done for awhile now but I am happy the kid finally made it official. Congrats.

And with that commit St. John's has the highest ranked class for next year.
http://247sports.com/Season/2016-Basket ... e=Big-EastAnd I really think they are only scratching the surface, I wouldn't be surprised to see a 5 star or 2 in the 2017 class.

And THIS is why Mullin was hired. He will have them reloaded soon. Great catch by St. Johns.

Not sure where you see that he is ranked #17 in his class. 247 has him at 101. Still a good get.

No, St. John's is now 17th nationally in recruiting class for next year.

Considering Mullin has been here less than a year, and took over a team where the cupboard was completely empty, he's done a terrific job replenishing the roster. Even a guy like Yakwe, who should still be in high school, and had 14 points, 7 boards, and 5 blocks last night, against a terrific Xavier team, probably won't start next year. I figure LoVett, Ponds and Ahmed are likely to start, and Alkins also if he committs. Then either Sima or Owens would start at center, with Yakwe and Fruedenberg off the bench. Thats not a bad top 7 with all of them being either freshmen or sophs with the exception of Ahmed (jr) PLus we're the favorite for Jordan Tucker a top 50 player in the 2017 class. AND we're still in the final five for Thon Maker, but I won't get carried away since that one probably is unlikely to happen. But stranger things have happened.

We should be very deep next year. Expect guys like Mussini, Alibegovich, Ellison and Williams to get minutes off the bench too. Especially the first two since they have been getting their heads kicked in all season. I don't think Mullin relegates them to clean up duty once the new kids come in.

Kid is not ranked in the top 100 by 247 sports.
Hopefully he is just under the radar because he is European. These are the type of players I hope the johnnies get. Euro style big perimeter players. They play mullin's type of game. A guy like Rawlie Alkins, the take 'em combo guard, isn't going to get as much from Mullin.
Freudenberg is rail thin. Might be a good idea to red shirt him so he bulks up and johnnies can get four good years out of him. Can't imagine he is an immediate impact player.
