Funny how Nova beats the johnnies without the chef by 15 on the road and some folks on here say they don't look like a top 10 team headed for another early exit while X wins by single digits at home and it gets chalked up the johnnies playing hard. Guess the cheap shots will keep coming as long as nova keeps winning. Winning breeds hatred.

For the record love this X team and last night is nothing to worry about. Team is built to go far.

Novaball, you responding to yourself with different accounts?

Nova wins by 16 at St. John's without their center, and everyone says nova looks bad and is falling apart
Xavier struggles to a single digit win at home against the same johnnies team, and people say it is due to St. John's playing well.

Ahhhhhh, life at the top...

A couple of you Villanova fans are the most sensitive bunch.

Once Nova proves they can actually get past the first weekend of the tournament, I think a lot of this talk will die down. Again, Nova hasn't been able to get out of the first weekend since 2009 - 7 years ago! Hopefully for their sake, and the Big East's, this is the year they will actually do it, and I think they will because they are a lot less reliant on the 3 point shot this year than previously.

2005 - 5 seed - Sweet 16 (Kenpom 5)
2006 - 1 seed - Elite 8 (Kenpom 6)
2007 - 9 seed - R64 (Kenpom 21)
2008 - 12 seed - S16 (Kenpom 42)
2009 - 3 seed - F4 (Kenpom 9)
2010 - 2 seed - R32 (Kenpom 22)
2011 - 9 seed - R64 (Kenpom 34)
2012 - stayed home (Kenpom 84)
2013 - 9 seed - R64 (Kenpom 46)
2014 - 2 seed - R32 (Kenpom 14)
2015 - 1 seed - R32 (Kenpom 6)

Just to put it all into better context. So 2010 Nova was definitely overseeded, and that loss wasn't quite the upset people like to point out. 2011-2012 were transition years where talent didn't match intensity. 2013 not an upset. 2014 was a loss to eventual champion UCONN. 2015 was the only real crap the bed moment...but that year also saw Kansas and VA both go out in the round of 32 so it was not unprecedented. I get it...Nova wears the crown and it's heavy. But Xavier will for perhaps the first time know what it is like to have real expectations placed on them to advance in the tourney. Congrats for last year beating an 11 seed and a 14 seed to get to the S16. But those early rounds aren't as easy when expectations are much higher, the crowd is routing for a major upset and shots aren't dropping like you are used to.

The cheap shots ended when the game ended last night. At least for the Xavier players.

2010 was the alleged fisher/Scottie fight before the second rd game against St Mary's. Probably the moment the program imploded leaving Jay a mess to clean up over the next three years. I don't think anyone expected the run in 2014. Most of us just would have been happy to be back in the tournament before the season started. We were predicted to finish 5th that year I think?

Apologies for bringing this way off topic but this is probably the reason most nova fans are being patient since a lot of us thought the run was over given the timing of the locker room implosion and breakup of the big east. The fact that we're back at this level is a pleasant surprise and has just as much to do with having a strong league as it does with Jay cleaning up the mess.

Anyway congrats to X. Should be a good one at the end of the month.

It has nothing to do with Villanova fans being sensitive, it has to do with the rest of you not recognizing the MID-MAJOR mentality that is taking place here. In the Old Big East, if Villanova got knocked out early, nobody cared because 4 or 5 other teams would have stepped up and continued to make noise for the Big East. Relying on ONE teams performance in March to give the rest of the league credibility is pathetic.

Until I hear, "Oh, Villanova got knocked out early again? No big deal. St. John's, Butler, Providence and Xavier are all in the Sweet 16", I will say OK, we have made it, the New Big East has finally arrived! But we haven't come CLOSE to that yet.

The success of this league does not rest on the shoulders of what the top 1 or 2 teams do in the dance every year, it should rest on what the top 4 or 5 teams do in the dance every year and until we get there, stop pointing fingers, and worry about your own team.

To be quite honest, and I am not saying Xavier fans are doing this, but if being the ONLY team from your league to make the Sweet 16 makes you stand up and declare yourself "The King Of The Conference", we are already SCREWED!
