Got some big games as we get to the exact half way mark of the season....
Saturday: kp/rpi
noon- #37/59 Butler 3-5 14-6 @ #120/125 Marquette 3-5 14-7 KP But 75-72 61%
2pm #15/3 Xavier 6-2 18-2 @ #160/153 DePaul 1-7 7-13 KP X 78-68 83%
8pm #43/24 Providence 5-3 17-4 @ #50/73 Georgetown 6-2 13-8 KP Geo 70-67 62%
8pm #38/52 Seton Hall 4-4 14-6 @ #34/94 Creighton 5-3 14-7 KP Cre 79-74 67%
Sun
noon #4/2 Villanova 7-1 17-3 @ #253/208 St John's 0-8 7-14 KP Nova 76-59 95%
Big one of course is the PC/Georgetown game. Chance for PC to really help themselves in Ken Pom if they can win by 10. But for Georgetown, a win and we're 7-2 and have wins over Xavier, Providence, and a split with Creighton already. Tiebreakers pretty good for the Hoyas.
But HUGE ones for Butler and Seton Hall as well IMO.

Nova -19.5 will be the largest spread for a road team in big east history.
Xavier also huge favorites at -15
They really should just switch the providence v gtown game with the nova v sju game for the fox coverage. No casual viewers are going to tune in to watch nova win by two dozen at a half filled arena with mostly the other team's fans in attendance.

Seton Hall @ Creighton is potentially huge for both sides, though more likely for the Jays. For the Hall, it's about redeeming their worst effort in Big East play so far and getting back above .500 in conference play after that brutal 5 game stretch. For Creighton, it's about doubling down on their best rpi win this year and giving themselves at shot at the tourney bid that may be between the two schools. It would take a lot for CU's resume to surpass Seton Hall's, but if they can get close, a head to head sweep might convince the committee to give them the bid.

Creighton is in deep trouble. They need 6-4 bare minimum and they have game left @ Nova, 2 with Xavier, and game left @ Butler. Oh and @ PC. With everything on the road- yes they have chances- but they are playing at some darn good teams. Could really take 2 upsets in those 5 games to make the tourney. Possible? Sure. Likely? no.

Right, that's why I'm saying it would take a lot to surpass Seton Hall's resume. Both teams still have opportunities on the schedule, but the Pirates have them at home while the Jays are mostly on the road. The jays likely need to beat X at home, one of the top 3 on the road, and finish the sweep of SHU to really start thinking tourney.

Seton Hall really doesn't need any upsets though to make the tourney...
They have 6 projected wins left...
Marquette
Georgetown
Butler
@ St Johns
Providence
@ DePaul
Creighton needs most likely 2 upsets to make the tourney.
The Seton Hall/Creighton game IMO- if Creighton loses, you can pretty much stick a fork in them. There's pretty much no road to a tourney spot losing this game for Creighton. Meanwhile for Seton Hall- a win here, and they are pretty much in.

Agreed
And with seton hall, most of the games they are projected to lose are moreso in the "toss up" category than the games they are projected to win. Which bodes well for them in the long run.

I think this Saturday's Creighton vs. Seton Hall game will be much more competitive than the previous meeting though I'll root for a resounding Bluejay victory. This series has seen three one-point victories in five games. Favorites/underdogs seem to mean nothing in this series. Creighton needs a win to avoid a likely three game skid (Villanova on the road coming up next). Creighton 86, Seton Hall 85.
Go Bluejays!

I don't understand why the games aren't staggered better. PC v GTown on at the same time as SHU v. Creighton. Those are two awesome games. I would like to watch both in their entirety. For my time, those are the two best games of the weekend. Why put them on at the same time?
Boooooo FOX SPORTS!!
