Updated 1/25 bracketology

Xavier 2 S vs N Illinois, then Dayton/Valpo- St Louis- then Mich St
Providence 5 S vs Tulsa, then Oregon- Spokane
Villanova 1 W vs Navy, then Michigan/Florida- Brooklyn- then Louisville
Butler 10 W vs Texas, then Virginia- Raleigh- then Maryland/Duke

Seton Hall 3rd team out
Georgetown 7th team out

Butler right now the next to last team with a bye.

Providence with a 5 is the one I know a lot here will complain about. It's still the advanced metrics hurting- although even in RPI only still #21- which would actually be a 6 seed.

It may say updated but this is the exact same bracket he had listed Friday or Saturday when I looked at it.

My night mare is seeing Michigan in the second round for nova. John Belein will pack that 1-3-1 zone, force nova to chuck threes, and he is familiar with jay's defense and generally knows how to attack it.

Yes, It was "accidentally" posted on Saturday by ESPN. My friend and I were having a beer talking about going to Spokane. It may be dated today now but I can assure you this was done before the PC game on Sunday. It simply makes no sense to have PC at 5 because of their metrics but leaving Nova ta a one when they just lost to a team with these bad metrics. KenPom simply is lacking a key component with this Friar team; toughness. They are the only team undefeated on the road in the Top 25 and maybe in all of college basketball.

For Nova- right now he's got them as the 4th 1. Before yesterday, they would have been like the 2nd or 3rd 1. It does make sense. Nova is still #2 in RPI and #4 in Ken Pom.

It's not just Ken Pom for PC. Like I said- RPI has them at 21 right now. A 5 seed is between 17-20. Right now, that's where their metrics are.

The metrics simply suck but for you guys that live and breathe that stuff, explain this; The Friars are now 17-3 with six top-55 KenPom wins and just one loss outside of the top 45.

In regards to the Friars, the metrics mean as little to me as the preseason predictions this board has for the Friars year after year. I know a tough talented team when I see one and they define mental toughness, which unfortunately a computer just can't quite figure out. The selection committee is going to look at that road record though and I can assure you if the season ended today which is what current bracketology is all about, there is no way in hell that Providence is a 5 seed, and there is not a computer model you can give me that will convince me otherwise.

Look,

We all know that Providence is underrated. I would have them as a solid 3 seed, even challenging for a 2 seed.

But the metrix do matter, and PC doesn't do well in the metrix. And that is why they were slipping to bubble status prior to yesterday's game. I wasn't hating when I mentioned that was a huge game for them to get off the bubble, and if they lost then many of the experts would have them either on the outside looking in or barely making the dance. That's not hating, that's objective view of the situation.

But PC is an awesome team. They have two NBA players, and teams with multiple NBA players tend to win NCAA Tournament games. So why are you worked up over this?

One of Nova's best team was 2005 when they earned a lowly 5 seed. But they had tons of talent and that showed in the NCAA tournament. Unlike other years when they had better regular season performance but they lacked the high end talent and were more vulnerable in the dance.
