Kevin Willard called Josh hart the best player in the country.
Doug Gottleib said that was a bit much, but he is clearly the best player in the big east.

I think Hart could've been a candidate for POY, but I think Arch's co-POY last year will prevent him from being able to. Arch is playing better than last year imo and it's going to be hard for people to either vote for Hart over someone they thought was POY last year or give CO-POY awards to teammates.

I'd vote for Ben Bentil or Kris Dunn by far with maybe either Trevon Blueitt or Josh Hart challenging, but not that close. I'd hope Arcidiacano is not close to any serious consideration.

I don't think Dunn is a lock by any stretch right now. His turnover rate in conference play is actually WORSE this year than it was last year. Coaches don't like that and they're the ones who vote. His offensive rating in conference games is worse this year than it was last year. Had 4 straight games where his offensive rating is less than 100.
Not saying Dunn can't win it- but just wouldn't put it in a lock category yet at all.

If I had a vote at this point I'd give it to Dunn. But POY and MVP awards are subjective in the sense that some people give it to the guy with the best stats, regardless of record, while others give it to the best player on the best team.
If PC finishes 13-5, 3rd place in the league, Dunn is a shoe-in. If Nova finishes 16-2, wins the conference going away and PC is a 5th place 10-8 team, then it may get more interesting.
Not sure about how the COY will play out, but Wright is certainly hurt because of the perception that Nova should be winning these games. But we all know the quality of teams, and the difficulty involved with a round robin format. Jay W's team just put together a perfect BE season (18-0 in conf play and 3-0 in the BET) the last 21 games. To be able to get your team prepared night in and night out when EVERY other team has your game circled on their calendar--and the fans show up amped up and hoping for a court storming--is a tremendous feat, that should not be casually glanced over. This year we are undefeated, 2 games up on everyone else, and have played probably the toughest schedule in conf so far. @ Butler, @ CU, @ G'twn, @ SHU all out of the way. We've got 4 games against DePaul and SJU in our last 10. I like our chances for a strong finish. I also think Jay should be COY (should similar results continue) but will probably lose votes to Mack and Cooley should they finish anywhere near the top of the conference.

He's looked pretty bad in the BE games this year. That said, the defensive attention he is getting is much higher this year with double-teams and help defense, and I'd say he's facing it much more than any player in the league.
He's also more disruptive defensively than any guard in the league and that part probably isn't close.
But he needs to learn to deal with the attention in order for PC to start playing well again.
