The Big East has added Liberty & Quinnipiac as affiliate members in field hockey. That end of the conference just keeps getting weirder.

Big East in Field Hockey: Connecticut, Georgetown, Liberty, Old Dominion, Providence, Quinnipiac, Temple, Villanova.

Liberty spent most of the season ranked, so it seems they’re being brought in as a serious challenger for UConn.

That has to be the most random group of schools

Strange. Back in the 90s PC was often a ranked field hockey team. Not so good anymore, I guess?

Actually, same for women's Ice Hockey. They were once probably the best women's Ice Hockey program in the nation (many Olympians, including Cammi Granato, one of the best ever). Now they appear to be terrible. What a change.

It's a lot less random when you consider that they are all east coast and fairly located near each other combined with the difficulty finding conference support for field hockey. Conference support clearly is the same for WLax. Any port in the storm so to speak.

I dont get why the ice hockey program has fallen so far. Maybe the renovated schneider arena will help bring them back
