Former Butler Player Andrew Smith Has Leukemia

Postby milksteak » Mon Dec 07, 2015 1:30 pm

Most of you probably don't know who he is (I'm sure Xavier fans remember him), but his lymphoma has turned into leukemia. His chances of survival are slim to none. Could use some prayers from you guys.

F*** cancer.

One of my favorite games from Andrew: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXxQtdUwVY0. Note the tremendous play at 1:12 and how few f***s Stevens gave.

I remember him well and did not know about this. I just read about his struggles.

Terrible news and I'm really sorry to hear it.

Just read about it on XH.

Prayers offered.

My thoughts go out to all our friends and colleagues at Butler. This is just terrible news. He is a fine young man and he has been dealt a terrible hand with all this.

Gonna bump this.

Stevens skipped the Celtics' game in Chicago to go visit Andrew. It sounds like Andrew's time may have come.

The Butler community is hoping for a miracle, and we could really use some thoughts and prayers.

I saw his wife's tweet, which was retweeted by Gregg Doyel. Very tough articles to read.

Hey, I'm a Xavier guy, but I'm calling on everyone to say numerous prayers for former Butler star Andrew Smith. None of the cancer treatments have works so far and he is not in a good place.

Contrary to the slogan, Basketball is NOT life. I will be saying numerous prayers for a this former Big East player and his family. We should always all stick together in this league. Thanks for reading.
