BE Friday Games, 11/27...

Postby billyjack » Fri Nov 27, 2015 10:50 am

Hey guys,
The Big East has had a good week so far.

At least 3 games are scheduled for today:
Villanova vs Georgia Tech.
Xavier vs Southern Cal.
Providence vs Arizona.

Arizona beat Santa Clara in overtime last night, but Tarczewski (sp) hurt his ankle, so the 'Cats may not be at full strength.

On a side note, is there a better tradition than watching the Great Alaska Shootout on Thanksgiving Eve and Thanksgiving night, from an empty arena in Anchorage, with former XU and PC coach Pete Gillen calling the games. Teams in the tourney are all generally weaker programs. And the games run til 2:30am Eastern time. Gillen makes it fun, in the mold of Al McGuire behind the mike, with the accent and his stories. Talking strategy and focusing on the games in front of him, rather than pimping Duke and Kentucky games and recruits.

billyjack-
I was watching on Wednesday late night and was shocked when they said that a kid that got a triple double- it was the 1st triple double in the tournament history. While it's now weaker programs- the tournament used to be right up there with Maui. Go back 20 years ago and listen to this group of champions- 95 Duke, 96 Kentucky, 97 UNC, 98 Cincy(over Duke), 99 Kansas, 00 Syracuse, 01 Marquette, 02 Charleston(over Villanova).

Also kind of amazingly even now, every year the tourney has been held, a team has gone on to make the NCAA tourney. This year is really going to test that IMO.

This isnt your same old doormat USC team, they seem to be playing better this year. Hopefully atleat 2-1 today. If PC can somehow beat Arizona, that would be a huge resume win.

Great Alaska Shootout has had hard time getting teams. Alaska is nice but not at the end of November...

Really?, if so be prepared to hear him talk about Duke/coach K and Kentucky for at least half the game. The other half he will be screaming gibberish like PTP'er, diaper dandy while not having a clue what's really going on in the game.

It's not Duke, Kentucky, UNC, Kansas, Michigan State, so Dick Vitale will be fine.
