Kris Dunn Is A Quadruple-Double Candidate...

Postby billyjack » Tue Nov 24, 2015 2:10 pm

No NCAA player has ever recorded a quadruple-double vs a Division-1 team.

Only 4 NBA players have recorded quadruple-doubles:
Nate Thurmond in 1974.
Alvin Robertson in 1986.
Hakeem Olajuwon, twice in March of 1990.
David Robinson in 1994.

Last night, Kris Dunn only got a double-double. But with around 10 minutes left, if he had kept on his normal average stats pace, KD would have recorded a quadruple-double. The probability was over 50% that it was going to happen, if I had to bet.

So, with around 10 minutes left, Dunn had (from memory here) something like 15+ points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 7 steals.
The Friars had a 10 point lead, so KD was legitimately still in the game.
He got a rebound for a double-double and a 9th assist.
He was called for at least 1 foul trying to pick the NJIT PG's pocket.
He was as usual very active in passing lanes but couldn't grab a steal.

With under 2 minutes, NJIT fouled him just as he whipped an alley-oop to Bentil for a dunk. It was an unnecessary foul call at that point. Just let them play. That would've been a nice highlight to cap off a triple-double. With the game in hand under 45 seconds, NJIT was pretty much triple teaming Dunn off the ball to keep the triple-double from happening against them. But he definitely had a chance of making history.

Anyway, KD is going to be really fun to watch all season.

KD is legit the best college basketball player in the country right now. Should be fun to watch him the rest of the season.

Dun could reasonably average 20-9-8-6 this year. Simply amazing.

It is so refreshing to watch a kid of his skill level play such team oriented basketball. He is going to be a complete joy to watch this season.

He had plenty of chances at the needed assist, but NJIT started fouling guys when they got it in the post and you don't get an assist for a pass that leads to a free throw.

Come on now, Dunn is great. Probably 1st team AA, but that type of seasonal stat line is insane. Not going to happen, unless you really mean 22 pts., 7.3 ast., 6.5 reb., & 3.9 stls, maybe, just maybe.
