Is this kid guaranteed one and done? No doubt he could quit Marquette tomorrow and a NBA team would grab him, but is it a guarantee that he will leave next summer?
This kid is college basketball player of the year if he makes it to junior year and stay injury free. Real impressive. Head and shoulders above the other freshmen in conference (and maleness Brunson and Khyri have been pretty good)
I think he's only going to be an okay pro though. But he will make plenty of money in the NBA.

He's not a automatic one and done most Marquette fans are expecting/hoping that he stays two years and then leaves when his brother Wally leaves

I think a lot with him will hinge on what's going on with the NBA CBA talks. If it looks like there will be a lockout after the 16-17 season, we're going to see a lot of guys leave nation wide this year.
And just LOL at thinking he'd stick around for 3 years. Sorry, but this isn't 20-30 years ago. That just doesn't happen.

He's going to be a stud, but he's also making some very freshman like mistakes. I could argue that his "trying to do it all" charge in the final minute against Belmont contributed directly to their loss. And then last night his "I'm going to dribble it in and spin in the lane" where the ball got stolen and taken to the other end for a basket could have cost them the game.
Put him in the post and he's a monster. Let him dribble it up court like a point guard and you're in trouble.

I saw his first game and figured he was a one and done for sure, but it sounds like the past couple have been much different. Is he too in love with shooting the perimeter shot or something?

His second game he still looked good, a little slow on D but looked good. Last night he looked bad, of course everybody except JJJ looked terrible last night. Unless he shows an ability to adapt really quick he'll need a second year for defensive purposes. He doesn't have that defensive mindset that Okafor, Towns, Parker, Davis etc all had.

like I've said all along- there's a dichotomy with him. The better he does- of course the better it is for Marquette this year- but then the more likely he leaves after 1 year. But the worse he does- it's worse for Marquette this year- but it's more likely he sticks around for at least 1 more year.

Marquette just looks horrible and I'm not talking about just last night. Is it possible they are worse than last year? Maybe they miss Carlino too much cause the guards have been horrible.

At this exact moment, we are worse than last year. Will we be in a month? Who knows. I sincerely hope not, but we will see.
