So St. Johns gets #7 and the threads get feisty. Do we need a Nascar vs Lacrosse thread to settle our cultural disputes?

Marquette has their worst year in over 13years off a bad year and we average 13,600 a game. Providence has a good year coming off a good year and averages 8,600 a game. But ok sure people Marquette's the one in 6th place. How many of you have actually been to Milwaukee for a game vs just assuming it's another hick midwest city because outside of Chicago you think it's just cornfields?

I'm confused. Are we ranking the various playing venues of the Big East programs or are we ranking the average number of fans who visit those venues to see their Big East Men's Basketball teams perform?

I'm honestly not surprised. The BC is a cavernous NBA arena that was originally designed for hockey. It is also old and doesn't have a lot of amenities. I can understand why the arena wouldn't rate highly with a lot of people.

We actually averaged over 14,000 in the BC, when you take out the game at the Al McGuire Center which was I think in the 3,800 range.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Game experience. Now it's subjective, but I don't see how a team that has a less full stadium can have a better game experience. If we were just rating the venues I'd have the bradley center only above allstate arena but gameday experience to me includes atmosphere, I can't argue about the venue having never been to a game at Providence but I will say a beer in that city is more expensive than a beer in Milwaukee and that's certainly a game day experience factor (and a major negative about every east coast city I've been to)

In fairness, there has been some confusion over whether we are ranking arenas or gameday experience overall. If it is the experience, then having a lot of fans there is certainly a factor. That said I believe in the original thread it was stated that people were free to use whatever criteria they wanted.

Ill be honest. I voted Marquette.

However most of that was based on going to a Bucks game back in the 90s and thinking it was pretty damn underwhelming then. So that logic is pretty thin, but then again this whole exercise really isn't anything but killing time until next Saturday.

I did get to sit two rows behind the Warriors bench (for $8 a seat!) and hear Mullin drop about ten cuss words on Bob Lanier for taking him out of the game, which was interesting.

This is hard, MU really has a lot of fans attending but it is a huge arena. Providences is smaller but the upgrades make it beautiful and anyone who has ever been there to a game even before the massive re-do can tell you the sight lines are beautiful. There is not a bad seat in the place.

Nova fans pretty quiet in these threads. I think we're all flabbergasted the Pavillion is not unanimous #10. The best thing about it for us is the dream that it may one day be razed to the ground and a new arena will rise in its place.

I have been to both Marquette and Providence in the past two years. Both great places. Marquette being down didn't have the energy when we went two years ago. We went to the Dunk a year ago and it was a great atmosphere ( Doug's last year and he and Ethan were sick). We really had in fun in Providence and I thought the upgrade in their facility was great. Our seats were great in both places due to friends in the right places. At this point, all the places in the Big East are fun to visit. Hopefully, I will add some more in the net year or two.
