ButlerAperture-Employee Where do you see the Big East as a conference compared to the other major conferences?
Associated PressGrindageOG The Big East is still reeling from all the football schools taking off. Villanova is legitimate every year and Marquette could be a solid No. 2. The conference needs the bottom teams to get better and fast or they'll be an afterthought.
XavierCBARKLEY Marquette #2? I mean no disrespect but why would you put them above NCAA teams from a year ago Georgetown, Butler, and Xavier that all have a ton of talent. And providence that has a player of the year candidate?
Georgetownredditaccount36 Marquette a solid No. 2? Lol. Even Marquette fans aren't that delusional.

(14/15) #2 BIG EAST = 82.87 82.99 ( 3) 10 82.90 ( 3)
(13/14) #5 BIG EAST = 80.63 80.75 ( 6) 10 80.67 ( 5)
(12/13) #2 BIG EAST = 82.70 82.82 ( 2) 15 82.73 ( 2)
(11/12) #3 BIG EAST = 82.12 82.19 ( 3) 16 82.17 ( 3)

There's not enough data either way, certainly nothing that would say the conference is now weaker. In fact, the strongest year of the 4 years (for comparison) was last year. It is a myth. The conference was far weaker three years ago than the apparent sense and far stronger now. The data is right there, I don't understand people who are ignorant when the cost of education is a few characters in a Google search.
The Big East was the 2nd rated conference in the country in 14/15. It is not only an elite conference, it is nearly the top of the list -- and surely will in some years.

Your entire athletic budget goes to basketball, that means you can schedule 150 RPI teams instead of 300 RPI teams. When your DOMINANT champion Villanova gets beaten by a middle of the pack, mediocre ACC team NC State...that tells you all you need to know about the mighty Big East.

Over here in the AAC, our 5th place team won the National Championship. So what does that tell you about these metrics??
