It hasn't gone well for the new league so far? Really because we have gotten 10 bids in 2 years. Thats batting .500 and i'll take that. Oh and St. John's nabbed one of those bids. Whats this guy talking about?

DePaul alumni have been rooting for DePaul basketball to be successful for nearly 25 years. They're still waiting... If DePaul becomes just average in the league, it will be good for them, but continuing to finish 8/9/10 in the conference won't do them any favors. Being picked 8th doesn't help matters.

Yes, DePaul and St. John's need to get better QUICKLY. But this conference will NOT reach its potential until these 2 programs are successful.

So what if Marquette or Villanova do well individually? They will not drive this conference upward by themselves. Each school will do fine on their own but THAT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

Trust me. Call Ackerman and Stu Jackson and ask them what this conference needs.

I have been going to games since 1968 and not really sure what is holding this program back. Chicago is an unbelievable sports city.

You can talk as much trash about Milwaukee as you want but the fact remains that DePaul needs to be a lot better before you start puffing your chest. We WANT DePaul to be good, especially us at Marquette. It WOULD be good for the conference. Plus we want a regional rival worth playing. It just hasn't happened. Best of luck.

So the question remains...why have two programs in rich media, recruiting and high exposure areas, with proud traditions been completely terrible these past couple of decades? I can't imagine it's just bad coaching hires to blame. Why haven't they been able to get their acts together?

When it comes to media, there's NEW YORK and then there's the rest. It's not just eyeballs, it's the ability to latch onto the media's NY-centered herd mentality and become part of the national conversation.

Chicago may be more important than Milwaukee in media, but so what? Crowing about it is like Milwaukee trumpeting its media superiority to Omaha.
