My BE wish list for this season

1) McDermott earns first team all american. I know he did it twice before, but we need him to be the face of the conference and to be considered one of the best players in the land. If his play makes for must see TV then the big name stars , past presidents and NYC crowd will show up to see him play at the BE tourn. After seeing him interviewed, there is now doubt that he will represent very well.

2) at least 5 teams in the NCAA - aside from Creighton, most BE teams will definetly be better in the next 2 years than this year (Marquette , Gtown and Creigton lose a lot but the first two will replace them with incoming recruits and the rest onthe BE have young teams and talent coming in) Most people acknowledge that Gtown, Marquette, Creigton and nova should make the NCAA but we need 3 teams (providence, SJU and Xavier ) to do some damage this year. Looking forward, with so many teams having young players and great recruits coming, the first year could be a down year. But for perception 5 teams in the NCAA would be good and 6 would be great. Doing well in the NCAA would be nice but with younger teams I think that is asking for too much.

3) a good OOC schedule - we are all playing big time teams in the OOC and we need to do well. Without Louisville, cuse on our schedule the OOC games now become of greater importance. But again, for many teams the future may be brighter than the now so a few huge upsets this year would be nice and next year those same games wouldn't be upsets.

4) this isn't something that we "need" but personally I wouldn't mind seeing the old BE teams suffer the same downturns in their programs as previous teams that left when the east coast recruiting drys up for them. Cuse and L'ville are national brands so they won't suffer the same fate as BC or even WVU did, but ND, Pitt , Cinci and Uconn very well may be hurt by not being in the BE. The reason recruiting has been good across the board is because of realignment so let's hope that continues.

I look forward to rooting for all the teams this season!

Need 5 NCAA bids. A couple of Top 25 teams would also be good.

Great points!

I'd add Semaj (Xavier) to McDermott as an important player to gain national recognition.

I'd also like to see recent 5-star recruits become impact players. They are the future face of the conference. The two 5-star underclass men are Rysheed Jordan (St. John's) and Kris Dunn (Providence).

You said wish list, doesn't mean it has to be completely realistic...but possible.

-BET is well attended and exciting.

-BE gets 5 or 6 in the dance (PC being one of them!)

-FS gets some ratings for some of these BE games

-League finishes year with 3 in the top 25

-2 Teams make sweet 16

-1 team makes at least final 4
Let's Go FRIARS!

I think the proving grounds for the Big East as a league is the Tournament this season.

3 S16, 2 E8, and 1-2 FF would shut up the naysayers for awhile.
Big East Basketball is what it's always been. Great competition nightly.
If the Atlantic 10 didn't suck, why is everyone looking for the exits?
There is a reason why the A-10 left a team in the Central Time Zone...SLU, your move.
