Rumor from CasualHoya with additional fuel from the Georgetown AD:

Sounds like FOX is planning on airing a double header during Super Bowl weekend consisting of Georgetown vs Michigan St, and St. John's vs an unknown team at MSG.

Our AD tweeted this: #HoyaNation: RT - FOX televising the 2014 Super Bowl Feb 2 in NYC...What does that have to do with Hoya Hoops?? STAY TUNED!! #HoyaSaxa

Georgetown playing an out of conference game in February? Cool.

I figured that would happen when they announced we were staring conference play on New Years Eve. Usually we start conference play like Jan 5-6th so there is space for an extra game in 2014.

Supposedly it will be feb 1 doubleheader (triple header) at MSG.

Marquette @ St. John's

Michigan St vs Georgetown.

Later in the day will be the Heat @ Knicks.

Unclear the order of the college games or how tickets are going to work for St. John's season ticket holders.

It will likely be that St. John's season tix holders will hold their seats for the double header. I doubt MSG will have time to clear the arena out twice for the three games that day. Look for Johhnies season tix holders to get both games as part of their package - that's my guess.

1. Georgetown continues to come up with creative games on the schedule. The latest is the game against Michigan State on Feb. 1 at Madison Square Garden as part of a triple header. The other games will be St. John's against a Big East school to be named when the schedule comes out in the next few weeks and then the capper of Knicks-Heat. MLive.com first reported the game early Wednesday and multiple sources confirmed Georgetown will announce the game Thursday. This is the first meeting between the two schools since the 1986 NCAA tournament second-round game, won by Michigan State. This is a one-shot deal, though. There is no return for either team. The Hoyas continue to push scheduling in a new direction under John Thompson III. Georgetown will open the season against Oregon at Camp Humphreys outside of Seoul, South Korea, in the Armed Forces Classic. Georgetown then goes to Puerto Rico for arguably the best neutral-site tournament with Michigan, VCU, Florida State and Kansas State. The Hoyas also go to Kansas, a legitimate top five team.

Confirmed by St. John's. Johnnies playing Marquette at 12:30. St. John's season tix holders get the double header as part of the package so there should be a sizable big east crowd for G'Town.
