Well it looks like the conference will have ten years to enjoy the World's Most Famous Arena:

There is more to that story, I'll see if I can find the link in the NY Papers last month but the city left MSG a MASSIVE loophole.
Basically MSG sits over Penn Stationa and Penn Station needs to do massive renovations to the train station but they can't right now partially because of MSG, but if MSG can come to some sort of agreement with the owners of Penn Station they can stay there forever.
City Hall was super pissed about the loophole.

Not dumb at all. Long overdue in fact. Having a transportation hub that isn't literally a hole in the ground is more important to the biggest city in the country than having a place for the Knicks to play. MSG never ever should've been built in that spot and the sooner they correct this 45-year old mistake the better. This may come as a shock to some but basketball is not the most important thing in the world.

They will build a new MSG. It will be in Manhattan and it will be glorious. The city will hook MSG up with a nice spot and help fund the building of said arena. Their are a LOT of voters in that city who are big Knick and Ranger fans and will vote in people who will get that done. I would look for one of the major subway hubs, maybe down by Union Square. How awesome would that be? NYU girls and St. John's games!

My bet is that they stay where they are. In ten years they will renew the permit.

I'll take a wild guess that you're one of our new Nebraskan friends? Things are a little bit different here. Over 2,000,000 people go through Penn Station every week. Get back to me when MSG draws 2,000,000 in a week.

A little defensive?
