Didn't butler recently win a true road game at top ten Purdue? Sorry, but seton hall has nothing like that.

The people who are down on butler have the same mentality as those who were down on nova for losing to Oklahoma and Virginia. Butler has three losses, all top top 15 teams, and has the best win for the conference so far this year. Butler is definitely in the top grouping.

Purdue was a neutral court......What's the best win for the conference?

wonder why folks are so unwilling to put St John's by themselves at the bottom.

St John's has 1 game left this year where they have more than a 40% chance of winning. 13 games where they have less than a 20% chance of winning.

Like it or not, DePaul is significantly better than St John's is this year. St John's is staring at 0-18 very possibly.

That's right, neutral court.

So I guess the two best wins for the conference are Purdue and Arizona.

I'm not overreacting to Butler's three losses. They were all acceptable.

The problem with Butler isn't the losses in a vacuum. It's the underlying stuff beyond the losses. The defense isn't good. What I'm saying- if they had been 0-2, but the defense was solid, that's not an issue.

As of 1-11-16:

1. Nova: Back on top.
2. Xavier: Bounced back after the tough loss at Nova. apparently still no time table on Sumner, but seem to be playing well.
3. Providence: The Marquette loss was a tough one. I don't think PC played poorly, but rather Marquette showed some good toughness down the stretch. PC missed a couple shots they normally make. Should have got the ball back to Dunn sooner on that final possession, but great block by Ellenson for the win. Just one loss for PC, not the end of the world.

4. Butler: One of the tougher portions of their schedule behind them, but they did drop 2 home games in that stretch. Need to be #businesslike against the teams they should beat coming up on their schedule. The next part of their schedule is a little funky as it is against the teams they should be able to beat, but mainly road games. Don't be surprised to see them dip a bit more before they finish the season strong against.

5. Marquette: Tourney hopes took a nice step forward this week. Huge win at the Dunk.

6. Creighton: Moves ahead of Georgetown and Seton Hall as the best option for a 6th bid.
7. Seton Hall: Looks like a replay of last year. Can Willard save this season?
8. Georgetown: At this point I am just hoping they win at UConn on the 23rd to salvage this throw away season

9. St. John's: played Marquette tough at home. Still struggling
10. DePaul: heard the foundation on the new arena is looking nice.

My Rankings:

Tier 1
1. Nova - crushed X at home (although without Sumner and shot much higher than their norm from 3PFG), beat Butler on road
2. Xavier - decisive bounce-back win over Butler at home, after getting throttled by Nova on the road; road win (although pathetic effort) at SJU and performed in crunch time near the end
3. Providence - disappointing home loss to Marquette, but solid Road/Neutral wins vs. Arizona (N) & Butler (A)

Tier 2
4. Butler - no bad losses, but only 1 Top 50 Win thus far (Purdue); still early, but I would like to see some more from Butler before throwing them in same category as VU, XU & PC

Tier 3
5. Seton Hall - ahead of Marquette due to road win at Marquette; unexpected home loss to Creighton; hoping they don't self-destruct like they did last season
6. Marquette - a HUGE win at Providence after starting conference 0-2; Wojo seems to be figuring it out and will be dangerous for any team going forward
7. Creighton - 2 road victories to start Big East play and are 3-1 to start the conference schedule. 2 Top 100 wins (@ Seton Hall #52 & Georgetown #94)
8. Georgetown - decent start to the conference (3-1), but easily the most disappointing and underachieving team in the league; Only ONE Top 100 RPI win so far (Syracuse - #76 per ESPN)

Tier 4
9. DePaul - 21 point drubbing of GW at home, plus keeping most games competitive keeps DePaul from claiming the bottom spot. Appear to be much tougher than SJU

Tier 5
10. St. Johns - a lot of bad losses (Incarnate Word, NJIT, Fordham). Made the home game vs. Xavier very interesting toward the end; should be much improved next season, but it's just not happening this year.
