Okay... That's just stupid now... STOP!

Pretty sure that's a 100% facetious snarky shot at St. John's, might what to adjust your sarcasm meter.

In 1976, Eddie Jordan led Rutgers to the Final Four.
A number of years later, Chris Mullin led St. John's to the Final Four

In 2013, Eddie Jordan returned home on his golden horse, a NBA Champion and a head coaching career that included coaching in the NBA playoffs and even coaching a NBA All-Star game, to lead Rutgers back to glory.
A number of years later, Chris Mullin returned home, a basketball hall of famer, to lead St. John's back to glory.

In 2016 both led their teams to winless conference records.

Think about it.

St John's could have had John Wooden or Phil Jackson, and they still would have been dreadful this year. They had the least amount returning of any team in the country. It's pretty crazy to compare them to Rutgers this year. Now 2 years from now- absolutely the comparisons would be valid. But this year- nope. Mullin gets a pass because Lavin left the cupboard totally bare.

Frankly,I didn't know a minor criticism about novas ending to the last two seasons was going to lead to a bunch of Villanova fans ripping apart St. John's entire history and program, but so be it

P.S. you guys can have Fordham if that's what you want. St. John's has a bright future

And Nova fans, try not to take what RedStormHoops said, and generalize and think that all stj fans are lap dogs that will sit by silently and watch their team get trashed, page after page in a thread by Villanova fans, for no reason, while silently waiting for a pat on the head. I can't believe I'm writing this but you Villanova people are more delusional and arrogant than Syracuse fans, and that's saying something. Get off your high horse. In my opinion both Xavier and Butler have done more to carry the BE banner in the first couple seasons than anyone. They've won the big OCC games against quality opponents and have won NCAA games against quality competition as well. Since 2009 despite all the high rankings and the extremely generous seedings, Villanova has only won tournament games against Robert Morris, Wisconsin/Milwaukee, and Lafayette. Big deal. Try having a season where you don't spit the bit in the postseason and maybe somebody else will be impressed.

We will have a postseason. Not sure that is in the cards for the Johnnies this year. But maybe your 6th coach in the last 20 years can help turn that around for you guys.

Remember, it was the Johnnies fan who started in about us. Like you, we aren't going to sit there and watch some fan from an other team try to take shots at our program. Especially a fan of a team that has done so little for so long.

Don't worry about Villanova, we will continue to reload. Just try to keep your guys eligible and ready to buy into the St. John's program and make a commitment to stay in Queens. If not, I am sure you can find another JUCO or 5th year player to fill in the gaps.

Without Nova's effort the last two years, the Big East would currently be viewed like the A10 used to be. A bunch of spunky little underdogs who roam at the border of top 25, earn seeds in the 6-12 range, and occasionally can pull an upset to the Sweet 16. Sorry, but that's the definition of a mid-major conference. You need a top end team or two in the mix to really get respect.

Villanova has carried the banner the last two years in keeping the conference a power conference in terms of having high end potential and daily conversation regarding title contenders. That's huge.

But as a johnnies fan, you have no idea what that is like, so you have no idea how important that is. And your Cuse comment is laughable. You probably ripped Cuse when they had early exits after strong regular seasons. As you obviously fail to realize the importance of having high end teams in the regular season as well. Sure, Cuse has lost as a protected seed in the first weekend, and even the first round, plenty of times. But those seasons they still helped carry the torch for the conference as New York's team while the Queens franchise was busy watching Coming To America replays on the Hallmark channel and remembering that magical season of 1985 (when the Philly franchise cut down the nets).

What specifically is delusional about Syracuse fans?
Their claim to be New York's team? Think about it, put St. John's in the garden against random middle of the pack Big 12 team and the attendance would be about 7k. Put Cuse at the garden against the same team and it sells out. Am I wrong?
Or do you think they hold themselves too high, and they should be more ashamed of their losses as a 2 seed against Navy in 1986, or as a 2 seed in 1990 n the second round, or that loss as a 2 seed to 15 seeded Richmond in 1991. Or that first round loss to Vermont a few years back, or their failure to get out of the first weekend as a 3 seed in 2011, or their failure to get out of the first weekend as a 3 seed in their most recent trip?
Well, they are the big guns in New York. And sometimes the big boys get upset. But those were still great seasons, as good as any St. John's season except for 1985 (the year Nova cut down the nets).

Oh, in case you need one more reminder about where you stand in this discussion: The best season in St. John's history was 1985. Villanova cut down the nets that year.

So go order some 1950's NIT videos and wax poetic about all your victories over CCNY when their players were throwing games against you for Carmine Lupertazzi.

So I said the conference could use a nova run in the tournament because they are our best team in conference play. Yea that's definitely taking shots at your program.

F**k you for trashing St. John's the way you have. Thanks to you guys, novas results in the tournament this year is a win-win for me. If you guys go on deep run that's great for the conference, if you choke again at least the nova fans that are talking all this crap will bring it down a notch, just a notch

Sure, we could use Nova winning another national championship or making another final four or adding to its Elite 8 count or whatever. .... I agree.

We could also use St. John's not sucking too.

At least Nova is contributing something to the league.

The bottom line is before 2009, we went to a Final Four, an Elite 8, a few Sweet 16s all within a few years. You do realize we lost to Kansas (2008), UNC twice (2005 & 2009), Florida (2006) and UConn (2013) all within 11 years, we only missed the tournament one year in that stretch. Each team that I just listed went on to win the National Championship. So yeah, we got knocked out by lower seeds a few times, but we also got knocked out by teams that went on to win the whole F'ing thing more than a few times as well.

I am rooting for St. John's, I know you find that hard to believe, but I am. If this was the old Big East, I couldn't care less because we had so many good teams it didn't matter what St. John's was doing. That is no longer the case and we need all the Big East teams to show up, and I would love it if St. John's, a traditional Big East team, could return to how they used to be.

Again though, if certain fans IN THIS CONFERENCE want to give Villanova grief, they better have just been sent home in the Final 4. No team in the new Big East has done anything in the tournament to make the conference stick out yet. This is a challenge that should be accepted by EVERYBODY. It shouldn't be a few teams, like Villanova, who are expected to put on the big boy pants and win in March while teams like St. John's watch from home. This is a group effort here.

Regardless, St. John's fans really need to take a good look in the mirror before they tell anybody they have been "disappointing" in the past 16 years. It is honestly laughable. If you don't want a certain reaction, don't say anything. Root for your program to step up to a place where when you do say something, you will have a leg to stand on when you do. Right now, you don't.
