Well according to the narrative a lot of people are spewing, Nova pisses down their leg ANYTIME they play someone really good, heard that a lot following the Oklahoma and Virginia games. If you follow that narrative, maybe X just isn't ...

I been rooting for Nova for two consecutive years. But Nova makes it hard to root for them when they have two consecutive 2nd round (Round of 32) exits. I mean c'mon. I even chose them to go the Final Four two years ago in my bracket. I chose them against my team Connecticut and they choked hard against Uconn that year (Uconn went on to win it all)

Nova needs to show up in big NCAA games if they want to shed that reputation

Well there is that narrative maybe because it's true....

Villanova hasn't mustered to get past the first weekend of the NCAA tournament since 2009.......

This year gets absolutely routed by Oklahoma, loses to Virginia.... But if you want to take this game in which Xavier's best player endured an incredibly hard foul in the first 2 minutes and taken out of the arena on a stretcher..... and Nova shooting 31% from 3 this year and in this game shoots at 51%.... then be my guest.

If that's a basketball play then they should be wearing shoulder pads. That is excessive, on not one but two players. I get not giving players an easy basket, but that's bullsh-- on novas part. And then to see crap like Archie slapping away our players hands when we try to help him up, just bullsh--.

Calm down skippy. It wasn't an intentional play. Both of those kids involved are good kids and would never play dirty. In terms of Macura and Arch refusing his hand to help him up. Macura is an irritator and instigator on the floor. He talks crap and plays chippy all game long as a way to get under players skin. That's fine but don't expect other players to treat you like old friends in the heat of battle.

Can you honestly say they were playing the ball at all? No way in hell was there any intention to do anything but foul, obviously not that hard, but still no attempt at ball.

Funny coming from a team that's only one game over .500 in BE play since they joined. How about X show up for league play? So you're saying X isn't really that good then? We're pretty much the same group that shot 39% last year, so yeah today's shooting isn't a surprise at all.

And oh yeah, 0-6

Well first of all, Nova is shooting 31% from 3 this year.... today they shot 52%..... but that performance "isn't a surprise at all" to you?

Secondly, why are you concerned about Xavier "showing up for league play"? They showed up enough to get a 6 seed, and then carry on to the Sweet 16.

I am glad Nova shows up for league play.... wish they would do it in March when it actually matters. 2 seed and goes down in the first weekend of the tournament. Not good for Nova and certainly not good for Big East.

You can say 0-6 all you want. I don't really care that much about Xavier-Villanova games during regular season. Since Nova has been to the Sweet 16 last, Xavier has 4 Sweet 16's. I've rooted for Nova the past 2 years.... hopefully this is the year they can actual do something in March and do their part to legitimize the Big East.

Agree X has been mediocre in BE regular season play. They did make the Finals last year and the program has finally seemed to right itself coming off the Dez Wells stuff. I would expect X to win 13-14 in league play this year if Sumner can make a full recovery.

Wow, the gloves are off. Fans are in mid-season form already. Gotta love it. Its going to be a heck of a ride for the next two months, and then we can all come back together and pull for our brethren in March (after BE tourney, of course).

The x players were clearly not the same after that, heck I even think I saw bluiett cry a little after that. It was hard to watch Archie try and break his own personal record from three, listen to the nova players yell and talk crap literally 2 minutes after sumner got taken down. I used to root for nova, id get upset when nova flamed out in the tourney every year, this year I'm gonna laugh my ass off when Archie watches sumner in tv from home.

Nice to hear stories of nova fans yelling " great hit Jenkins" and " I'm happy sumner's in the hospital" just class, pure class.

I don't think we should defer to Nova's early exits or X's league play. It was an emotional game for both sides with a lot to prove. Let's just hope both programs dominate moving forward and help the Big East in every way they can. And most importantly, let's hope Sumner makes a fast recovery.

In regards to todays game, Nova just showed up and played their best basketball. All year long everyone has been saying (myself included) how complete of a team X is. How they have so many weapons. They're deep. They're super balanced on both sides of the floor. A total threat. If that is all true, which I believe it is, losing Sumner shouldn't be a 31 point loss. They're good enough of a team to lose any one player and still perform. Even if he doesn't get hurt, Nova takes this one, even if by less of a margin. It just wasn't X's day. Just like it wasn't Nova's day against Oklahoma. It's just one game.

Nova fans like myself should be proud but we shouldn't beat our chests. Let's just hope this is the start of Nova's confidence that can actually carry them through conference play and into a deep tourney run.

X fans shouldn't hang their heads or take cheap shots. It was a bad game, nothing more. You'll turn it around quick and hopefully have Sumner back sooner than later. You'll have your chance for revenge on your home court.

Keep it classy on both sides. In the end we're all fans of the Big East.
