Clodblood!! It's you! Glad to see you finally made it to the Big East! Congrats my friend. Please stay and invite all your aliases. Should be good times. You're Creighton's embarrassing, drunk uncle half-brother from the Missouri Valley, ala Malik Obama, Billy Carter or herpes. We, by the way, will be playing our in-state rival, football school, University of Nebraska on Wednesday. They are our only rival. Who is yours now? The Salukis? Sorry your state schools Kansas as well as KSU snub you. Suppose it didn't help that we gave you the kiss off after owning you in our all-time series. Haa HA ha ha, well... anyway, as all of us Creighton fans know you're now here to stay and will make Stever20 look like a lazy half-assed poster (not to mention he'll finally look smart thanks to your assinine posts), so please enjoy yourself as our new permanent MVC troll buddy.

Peace out, and Merry Christmas... oh wait, is that too "cult" like?

Wait a second. The "Dog" is for Fresno State bulldogs? That is hilarious. Why does this guy have such a vested interest in Wichita St.?

Creighton, Xavier and Butler have been, arguably, three of the strongest additions to any conference during the 2010-2013 realignment cycle. Ever since they were added, a majority of C7 fans have overwhelmingly embraced and supported their inclusion - and recognize that they are true peers to the C7 and current incarnation of the Big East. Any fan, supporter or observer that argues otherwise with their respective inclusion is in denial or does not recognize what the current Big East is.

As to potential value for the current Big East, and its respective renegotiation cycle in a few years, conferences that get paid not only offer value (which is exactly what the Big East has always done and will continue to do) but there needs to also be a demand for their viewership. ESPN, both notoriously and documented, tried to kill the Old Big East by ripping apart the conference, selling off the most valuable assets (Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Louisville, West Virginia and Notre Dame) to existing properties (ACC and Big 12) and devaluing the remainder in order to get quality content for below average price (AAC). Thankfully, Fox stepped in and paid a great sum for a non-football property, where the basketball schools not only got more money than under their previous contract, but also more money than the football incarnation of the former conference (over twice as much). In the next go around, the Big East can not only expect to be paid well for their media rights, but also expect a bump in pay because other networks will want the inventory (ESPN included). Fox has invested so much in the content, and value east coast content to counter the mass amounts of west coast content they had/already have. The Big East has an elite basketball brand - on par with the B1G, ACC, PAC-12, Big 12 and SEC - and has provided elite basketball results. They offer strong content during the basketball season, as well as the Big East Tournament in New York in March - a huge asset in itself. It will get compensated more than fairly.

The Big East is in as strong as a position as the B1G, SEC, and PAC-12 in terms of conference stability and strength. The league has grown, developed and progressed into a power basketball conference, again, since its reorganization - much to the surprise (and frustration) of many fans of other teams and conferences. The conference will continue to build itself up and firmly establish itself as a power basketball conference (if it hasn't already).

SactownDog, welcome to HLH, and congrats on Fresno State's hire of Jeff Tedford - home run hire for the program.

Thanks Golden Warrior.... and I agree with 9/10th's of what you say. My only contention is networks measure success and pay by ratings not results on the basketball floor. So if and when our ratings match our (with a nod to DudeAnon and my daughter) basketball results, what you say will be true.

I will honestly say, I hope they are true. Right now, I don't think they will be (but that is my brain not my heart speaking). The financial future of my daughter could possibly depend on it which means I could have a lot more at stake on it being so.

So in summary....

1) The Presidents will decide and it is unlikely they are thinking like I am so let's hope I am wrong.
2) May the Gods insure X and Creighton lose every remaining game (people are way too nice on this board, its like the stepford wives)
3) May Marquette do well right after the Fresno game (We (Fresno) are going to get our asses handed to us)

I'm wondering at what point the Mods administer a TKO.

As for everyone else, stop giving this tool the attention he requires.

"Networks measure sucess and pay by ratings not results." Not entirely true. Why were Rutgers and Maryland added to the B1G? Rutgers had/has an atrocious football athletics program, and Maryland isn't a football power. However, both locations have TV sets - hence why the conference had such a big boon to its TV contract after adding Nebraska as well. The Big East has strong basketball programs in big cities (New York, Chicago, D.C., Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Omaha, Providence, etc.). Those are all very strong markets, all of which carry important outlets for Fox.

People looking at the ratings on FS1/Fox are over-analyzing the effect it has on what it does to potential TV deals. FS1 is still a very new network, growing its brand and viewership. FS1 bought the Big East because it was a long-term investment that suited their short-term and long-term goals. Fox will continue to want the Big East (and B1G) to maintain an east coast presence that counters their west coast base.

Finally, one of the greatest things about our conference is the admiration and respect each member has for one another. We were born, ironically, on being discarded. We weren't wanted because we weren't football. That, coupled with our urban markets, our basketball programs and our religious affiliations, makes us all brothers. I will root for Creighton, Xavier, Butler, Marquette, DePaul, Villanova, St. Johns, Georgetown, Providence, and Seton Hall in every OOC game possible, and for good competitive games in conference. We want success for one another, that's what makes our conference special in a time where college athletics is very much cut throat and take care of yourself (heck, just ask UConn this). Just because one may not understand that, doesn't make it wrong or bad for tv.

Looking forward to the Fresno State game, SactownDog. Should be an exciting matchup.

Dude apparently you didn't read all my posts.

Let me recap for you.

1) I attended Pomona College
2) I follow Fresno State because I admired Pat Hill and his underdog take no prisoners attitude (and family went there)
3) My daughter attended Butler and its possible her future husband might coach there someday
4) I have a vested interest in the Big East being financially successful and think they are at serious risk of failing.
5) Wichita State (KenPom 19) 13 appearances in the NCAA Tournament, reaching the Final Four twice, the Elite 8 four times, and the Sweet 16 six times helps the conference from a basketball standpoint. Plus they have a coach who will keep them there
5) lastly this board reminds me of the stepford wives so I happily stirred things up with Creighton who I honestly dislike almost as much as X

Aren't you making my point? The Big 10 added them for Ratings not performance on the field because it is ratings not performance that ultimately matters

Maybe but if you generate A10 ratings you will get A10 dollars. I have seen almost this exact same situation in the Mountain West and Football except here it is the Big East and basketball. Deja Vu all over again.

Finally, one of the greatest things about our conference is the admiration and respect each member has for one another. We were born, ironically, on being discarded. That's fine but it makes for boring league games. BTW I don't think Villanova and Georgetown are rooting too hard for each other ;-)

Looking forward to the Fresno State game, SactownDog. Should be an exciting matchup.
