As far as the hate goes, check out the Boneyard-they are making sarcastic remarks about PC losing to Seton Hall.

Agree, talent will eventually win out. However, they currently have 3 ESPN Top 30ish players right now (let that sink in). They should be much better with that talent.

CBS always gives a shoutout to Alaska Anchorage, and to a lesser degree the Great Alaska Shootout. They never say much about UConn...? Are they in Fairbanks, Juneau? Are they a smaller school than Anchorage? Only been in Alaska twice...just passing through...(flight layover). ;)

As basketball fans, we tend to think/hope/pray that what's good for BEAST basketball is wonderful for the conference overall. But that just isn't true!

Being in a conference with other members who share values, academic priorities, geography, total athletic budget, etc. etc. is a wonderful thing, and highly valued -- sharing all those factors creates a conference identity, more commitment to ongoing membership, a recruiting message to attract student athletes in EVERY conference sport, and a national media identity. The BEAST has a very strong conference identity at present, one that absolutely distinguishes it from other major conferences, and one that cannot fail to be attractive to a lot of student athletes. All the current members of the BEAST used to be in conferences where that strong common identity did not exist, and they either got screwed over by other members or happily fled those conferences. I'll repeat, there just ain't a snowflake's chance in hell that any BEAST administrations or boards have the slightest interest in adding a conference member who does not re-inforce those common factors - at that means UCONN in the context of this discussion.

And FWIW, I'll also predict (again) that the BEAST will continue to get stronger and stronger relative to other major conferences in men's and women's bball, men's and women's soccer, and in other sports as well. Our 10 institutions are qualitatively different, and in ways that make them look like better choices for student athletes, than the 65 institutions that make up the football five conferences.
