Last year they lost to Georgetown on January 19th
year before lost to Creighton on January 20th
Can Seton Hall put it together, I think they can.

Seton Hall might win tomorrow. I don't think Nova fans are cocky about that game. Seton Hall is a good team, game is at their place, likely a sell out. Could go either way.

Regarding mid-January, Nova has had some great ones around MLK day:
January 22, 2005: smoked Kansas in the blizzard. Most view this as the most important game of Jay Wright's career
January 21, 2006: beat up on a ranked Syracuse team to keep the ball rolling and get Nova back into the top 5
January 17-21, 2007: the emergence of the Scottie Reynolds era! After losing 3 out of 4 games, unranked Nova beats #20 ND by big numbers, and then follows it up by shutting down Kevin Durant for the worst game of his career. This was one of the big weeks of Scottie's freshman year. I was sitting two seats behind Ian Eagle in center court for this one.
January 20, 2008: Lost to Rutgers to start a 6 game slid, ultimately culminating in Dwayne Anderson being inserted into the lineup around Valentine's Date and the team turning things around. (magical win against 13 seed Siena that yr to go to the Sweet 16, which I doubt anyone else remembers)
January 21, 2009: A moral victory at #3 UConn. Cats loss, but played well and used the momentum to spur a big win streak including a bunch of big wins
January 17-20, 2010: wins over gtown and Rutgers
January 22, 2011: Huge win on the road against #3 Syracuse. Unfortunately this was the beginning of a two year slide
January 21, 2012: A bad nova team was still good enough to beat the johnnies at the Garden. I enjoyed attending this one.
January 19-26, 2013: Lost to providence, but then beat two top five teams in back to back games to close out the week and propel the Cats into the tournament. An amazing week
January 20, 2014: CREIGHTON!!! UGH!! WRAGGE FROM THREEEEE!!
January 19, 2015: Hoya Paranoya. Worst game of the year for the Cats.

what a fun bunch of Januarys dating back the past dozen years for Villanova basketball. Thanks for bringing it up.

If PC can get things straightened out offensively, then I think they have a legitimate chance at home. If not, then X at home. I'm not sure which game is first. X seems to be the only team to match Nova with talent and they have something to prove after the first game. Everyone else probably needs to have Nova play badly or conversely, the other team would need to play a great game. I'm not sure about SH, because they are inconsistent right now. If they did win, that would really help them to be the 5th team in the tournament. For what it's worth, this is the year I think Nova makes a deep run. Even if they would(God forbid) lose in the first round, having them in the top 10 for a lot of the year really helps the long term perception of the league and gets the BE talked about in a positive way. This obviously includes the other 3 rated teams. That being said, we need someone to make a deep run to cement the already good publicity we are getting as a league!

Xavier will beat Villanova. Because Villanova's 3 ball will not be falling. Xavier will also go further than Villanova in the NCAA.

RedStorm,

We won a game in the tournament last year, and we still disappointed, yet that ONE win is more NCAA tournament wins than St. John's has had in the last 15 years. Sorry if we have a hard time being told we are a disappointment and we don't do enough for the league coming from a fan of St. John's. I mean are you kidding?

Good posts by mpwalsh8 and jfan. Agree with Mr Walsh irt that the league winner will probably be 15-3/14-4. Prov, X, and Marquette possibly have the best shot at beating Villanova.
Creighton, Marquette, and Butler have the best shot at beating Xavier. Both the Hall and G'twn can upset the carts of the front runners - get a split.

Poor shooting days, off day in general, bad matchups, homer refs, opponent team has a great game, injuries...any number of factors can come into play. Heck, one or 2 of the little eight get hot and go on a multi game run...it happens.

Watch em play and enjoy! It ain't over...many have the notion that this years' BE is a done deal, decided by the preseason polls. Hah. Lol. "The best laid plans of mice & men oft go astray".

This BE conference race is just gettin' warmed up.
Luv ya,

If St John's got to play Lafayette in the tournament last year, they would have got a win too. So would DePaul and every other team in the league. If you're given a one seed and come away with nothing but a win over Lafayette it's a disappointment. Deal with it and get over yourselves, bunch of pompous dbags.

No, no, you are right. When a fan of a school that has been a complete disaster for the last 15 years plus tells me what a disappointment Villanova is, let me send him a box of Kleenex and an apology note because our success is supposed to make up for St. John's complete shitting of the bed for the last decade plus.

Before the Big East split up, St. John's might as well have not even existed since 2000. You didn't do anything to help the league then, and you aren't doing anything to help the league now.

Hey, we might be pompous, but at least it is because of recent success, we aren't the ones sniffing glue still pounding our chests like Carnesecca is still on the sideline. Honestly, the most delusional fanbase there is. NOBODY CARES ABOUT WHAT YOU DID 25 YEARS AGO, TRY DOING SOMETHING NOW!

St. John's has been an issue for a long time now, you have done very, very little to help the Big East. Try looking at what a trainwreck your program is and figure that out before you start throwing stones at the #6 team in the country like they owe you something.

Oh yeah, Rawle Alkins is totally on his way to Queens next year.

Nova earned the right to play Lafayette by winning 30 games and both the BE regular season and BET. Nothing you guys would know about.

All I did was mention that nova has struggled in the tournament and itd help the conference overall if they did better in March.

Yea St. John's doing better would help to. But this is a Villanova thread. I didn't know St. John's having a bad last decade meant I'm not allowed to have an opinion on villanova.
