If the Jays can muster good def and stops in the 2nd half - to go along with our offense, CU can steal the win in Jersey.

Jays - 80
SH - 70

Let's give credit where credit is due. GTMO takes some heat, but pretty nice call 82-67. That may buy him another week or two.

This is about BE Basketball, not a miss congeniality contest. Just give me a championship, please.

Enjoyed that. I read GTMO' s posts on both boards. Harmless and sometimes very informative. Old enough to enjoy a positive outlook. He also has a way where, I believe, most of the posters here enjoy his comments. He is so much better than some that just come to incite or post negative comments to other teams or the Big East. I also believed that he was right that the Jays, as Mo Watson said at the Big Eat get together, would be better than the 9th place finish. That's what makes the conference so great. We had two transfers sitting out last year ( Watson and Huff) and a freshman ( K Thomas) that no one knew about and guys like Groselle that blossomed mid last year. That's 60% of our starters that no one had seen. It makes the season exciting, not only for the Jays, but also all the other teams with similar new players. We can't read too much in to predictions- that's, as they say, why we play the games.

Not a single Creighton fan gives a flip whether Creighton winning is bad for the conference I hope we give the conference a bunch more bad losses, starting Tuesday (nothing personal PC)

I, not saying you should. Go ahead and root for your team. But for general fans of th pe big east cinference rooting for the best tourney placement for the league, this was a bad result. Seton hall looked like a likely tourney team until today. And after today, Creighton still looks like a nit team at best.

If Creighton is able to play their way into the dance I will go to the Creighton online bookstore and purchase a blue jays t shirt and root hard for our brothers from Omaha. But as is discussed in the other thread, it doesn't seem plausible for that to happen.

marquette loss would've been bad no question. Creighton? They've looked more like tourny team than both gtown and seton hall. at this point, I want to see teams play good basketball and get better. that's more important than having some matrix in your favor.

I've said a couple of things from the beginning of this season.

1) this is a young team and the team at the end should be a lot better than the team was at the beginning of the season. They are continuing to improve and what I saw as a positive from the Seton Hall game is that they did it while performing pretty average offensively (1.1 points per possession versus a season average of 1.15). Instead the big gain was on the defensive end where their help defense was consistent and tough all game long and frustrated Seton Hall (tourney teams should be able to make passes out of doubles, IMO). Creighton had been giving up 1.00 PPP and held Seton Hall to 0.9 (below their season average of 1.03)

2) the season goal for me was NIT or bubble for the tourney. That goal is still intact, and if they play as well as they can play they could end up in the tourney. Anytime you roll in with the kind of PG, Centers (both Groselle and Hanson here), and shooters that Creighton has this year, you can have a shot so long as you share the ball and play D. If the kind of Defensive performance against Seton Hall isn't a fluke (I think may have made their D look better than it was, but it was still great scouting and execution of the game plan), there could be more surprises coming up.

Anyway, Creighton's job is to keep getting better and to go win games, not to give games to other teams for the good of the conference. They gave away enough wins last year.
