And apparently the big hand holding circle here does not allow for opinions that go against the norm so the admin has asked me to stop belittling the players on depaul (of which I have done the exact opposite, I have stood up for the players while you guys try to claim they suck).

So the board mantra is now that Dave Leitao is awesome and the kids on his team suck, because mubxer and Omaha guy and demonLS cry to the mods about anyone who disagree. So I guess that is the new reality on this board. We can bash the kids on depaul, but not the coach.

Ball, I think you know that framing it this way is disingenuous. At this point it is well established what your opinion of DePaul, their coach, and their administration is. No one who reads or posts here has any influence over those things. The only thing that your continued pursuit of this topic can accomplish is starting flame wars and insulting/chasing off what DePaul posters we already have. You have had your say for a while in numerous threads. A gracious person knows when to move on and stop kicking the dead horse. To my knowledge we have not put you under moderation, we asked you in a private message to refrain from discussing DePaul. I am sorry to put this on the public forum, but I feel we also have a right to explain our position on this matter once you brought it up.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Ball, the reason why I keep defending Dave is simple. It's absolutely unfair and insane to call for a coaches job in their FIRST YEAR heck only 12 games in. I just firmly believe that coaches should be judged based off of what they do with THEIR jimmies and joes, not the previous coach's recruits. You've been calling for his job since their L to Penn State. This program has been a complete dumpster fire for a long time and to expect an immediate turnaround is just insane! I've also wondered this, if Bobby Hurley or Bryce Drew (just any of the hot name coaches last year DePaul looked at) were coaching DePaul and they struggled early, would you be calling for their head?? Just give the guy a chance, that's all I ask. I'd say about a 3 year grace period.

I am going to respect the moderators and stay away from this topic for a while.

We can agree to disagree. I happen to think he inherited a quality squad. Others think that the kids on the team are bad and he should be given a pass. Reasonable minds may differ. I don't think it is proper for me to be called out when I have defended the kids as opposed to the gang of posters who defend Leitao and bash the kids, but it is what it is.

One final word: I watched a lot of DePaul basketball the past three years, and I have rooted for them in every single out of conference game I have watched. I want DePaul to do well. This idea that I am a DePaul hater is false. I just have my opinion and apparently it is the minority opinion so I will keep it silent.

My last post in this thread. My last DePaul post absent commenting in a game thread or something like that. This is a good board and I'm not here to start trouble. That's not my style.

The thing is, DePaul fans don't need anyone else to tell them that Dave Leitao is or isn't a good coach. We saw him for three years. He's got his shortcomings, but he's at worst, a decent X's and O's guy.

Maybe it works the 2nd time around, and maybe it doesn't. But if it doesn't, I don't think it will be because Leitao doesn't know when to go zone and when to play man-to-man.

Just thought we'd bring back the fire Dave Leitao thread! Only two wins over top 25 teams in his first season turning around a complete dumpster fire program?!

While last night was a nice win for the Demons the fact is we're 8-14/2-8 on the season. For last night to mean something there needs to be a level of consistency which follows that has not shown for years. @CU, home to Nova and @ St. Johns. Yes, Dave has now won two more top 25 games than Ollie did in five years...it's nice to say that on a marketing pitch, but there are not enough wins overall to back those up with substance. Dave inherited a veteran laden team and both he and the "esteemed" AD stated it was not a rebuild (the quotes around esteemed are meant to be in a mocking tone). I need to see a whole lot more as the season goes on and whole lot more tweaking of the roster in the offseason because there are going to be big holes in the roster before I'm all aboard the Dave bandwagon

Just looking the best year for DePaul since 2008 was 2012 when they finished #142 in Ken Pom. They are 158 right now with a good shot to beat that. They have improved so much this year- especially on the defensive side of things.

It was stupid of them to say that, you can't honestly tell me you had high hopes for this team or didn't think it'd be a rebuild?

Lets just say this team has enough talent to be better than 8-14/2-8.
