BTW, I cruise around and lurk on most BE school sites, and if you go to either the Xavier or Butler sites you would see a whole lot of ragging and mocking of the BE. Way overrated being the main rallying cry, the way some are talking you'd think those schools had just entered the MAAC or something. Musketeer fans have already broken out their cute little "flagship" smack.

I recommend you leave it there. Let's all be on one team at least until January. Every fan-base is going to have a bias toward its own team. Xavier and Butler, proud programs, were picked by Big East fans and coaches to be near the bottom of the league. Their supporters have started the season with a chip on their shoulder. It's understandable.

Across Xavier's 3 primary message boards (MusketeerReport (Scout.com), Xavierhoops, and MusketeerMadness) there are different flavors of content, but none is a particularly good place to go for non-X fans.

And fans of BE schools not named Marquette & Georgetown shouldn't have a chip on their shoulder for the lack of respect they've gotten? Georgetown and Marquette appear to be down so the whole BE must be overrated?

I guess you can pick a fight if you want to but I don't see the point. One of the great things about the Big East is that everyone plays everyone else, with the result being a true champion. We'll see whose team is better than whose. Let them play.

And I don't think any serious Xavier fan is mocking the Big East. I'm not sure where you've been but I recommend a grain of salt.

Not trying to start a fight, just observing that some fans of the new schools complaining about "lack of respect" are just as guilty of it. Looking forward to the BE season, with a round robin a true champ will be determined, good thing if it was up to a vote I'm sure this board and the new school fans would have Nova and Providence pegged as NIT teams.

I apologize if I am coming across as confrontational, I'm not trying to be, it's just getting really annoying that Villanova & Providence seemingly are always getting overlooked when people start talking about the top teams of the league. And then to go to all 3 of the new school sites and see it there, it's just, well really really annoying.

Yeah, just about every Xavier fan is joking (partly out of frustration at the early BE losses while A10 teams finally decided to start winning games they usually lose). I can only think of literally one guy who thinks the Big East wasn't a big upgrade, that the A10 plus a couple other schools would have been a better conference. And he's an idiot.

At least on Xavier sites, Villanova is getting respect (with a lot of people ranking them highly) and a decent number of guys have been talking about how Providence is a team to watch out for.

I follow two Xavier sites and haven't seen any ragging of or mocking of the Big East. I also haven't seen any mention of "flagship" smack, so I for one am not sure what you are talking about. As others have said, I know of no one who is not thrilled to be part of the big east.

It's on one of the sites in a thread today talking about the Georgetown loss, but I don't want to start anything, and really its only like 4 or 5 posters, so no biggie. I just think fans of all schools not named Marquette, Georgetown, or Creighton are feeling a little bit overlooked, Xavier included(maybe the most overlooked team actually).
