I think the BC win is still a good one for Providence for several reasons. First, it was Big East vs. ACC. That will always be big. Second, there are three major teams in New England. UConn, Providence and BC and a slew of other good mid majors. Providence and UConn need to be the two that battle for the one/two spot in the region. BC needs to be an afterthought (and really it is). And third, well its the ACC. It makes no difference where the Eagles were picked to finish in the league. Remember in 2011, UConn actually finished ninth in the Big East. However, they won every non-conference game, won the Big East tourney and the national championship. That spoke volumes about the strength of the league. So if the ACC believes it is the best conference in history, they need more than Coach "K" saying its so.

I agree, especially with the part about it's a win over an ACC team.

The result of the UMass vs. BC game didn't matter much for PC. PC plays at UMass this year, so they play both teams. The game at UMass will be a very, very tough test for the Friars.

NBC's College Hoops Week in Review:

"TEAM OF THE WEEK: Providence Friars
Providence entered their season opener against Boston College short-handed, as Kris Dunn continues to battle the shoulder injuries that slowed him last season and Brandon Austin has managed to get himself suspended from the team already. But that didn’t matter, as Ed Cooley’s club knocked off a better-than-you-think Eagles club in overtime on Friday night. Bryce Cotton led the way with 28 points, six boards and four assists."

Whatever we think about the value of the win, the pub is excellent.
