Ummm, we are all still waiting for St. John's to take off under lavin!

But on the point of a coach, the hiring of Willard alone shows the lack of commitment to winning at seton hall.

There's no question that recruiting has taken off under Lavin. Now it's just waiting for the those recruits to pay dividends. My guess is that this is the year that will happen. Lavin has already given St. John's the best season (2010-11) they'd had in a decade.

Not a pick up worthy of board wide celebration. Big east schools are supposed to land these kids on a regular basis. Just goes to show that seton hall is a problem.

Kevin Willard is the lowest paid coach at a major program, and I believe he has the worst career record among major conference coaches. And we are now seeing seton hall fans celebrate a borderline top 100 recruit like it is some sort of coup for them to get him.

You don't see that as a problem?

Wow, are you serious? I hate message board idiots, so allow me to use FACTS to prove how ridiculous your comments are.

"worst career record among major conference coaches" -- let's look at actual numbers, shall we? At Seton Hall, Kevin Willard is 49-48 (.505) overall and 18-36 (.333) in conference. Let's compare to some coaches in other major conferences:

Jeff Bzdelik is 34-60 (.362) overall - 11-39 (.220) at Wake Forest
Brian Gregory is 27-35 (.435) and 10-24 (.294) at Georgia Tech
Oliver Purnell is 30-64 (.319) and 6-50 (.107) at DePaul
Pat Chambers is 22-40 (.355) and 6-30 (.167) at Penn State
Bill Carmody was 192-220 (.476) and 70-150 (.318) at Northwestern
Craig Robinson is 77-88 (.467) and 31-59 (.344) at Oregon State
Tony Barbee is 35-59 (.372) and 12-38 (.240) at Auburn
Billy Kennedy is 31-32 (.492) and 11-25 (.306) at Texas A&M

So there are a few coaches who have worse (or comparable) records (%) compared to Willard. But hey, don't let facts get in the way of a good argument, right?

On to the next point -- Seton Hall fans shouldn't be excited about getting a "borderline top 100 recruit" Angel Delgado?
A)Yahoo ranks him #54. 247 Sports ranks him #46 (#8 at his position). Scout ranks him #61 (#13 at his position). That is not "borderline top 100", that is "snug" in the Top 100.
B) For comparison, Providence commit Jalen Lindsey is ranked by Yahoo #48, 247 Sports #67, and Scout ranks him #65 (#17 at his position). The rankings are very, very similar between the two. I know for a fact Providence fans were giddy about getting Lindsey (as they should be)...weren't you excited about getting him? If so, you're being a hypocrite towards Seton Hall fans.
C) Regardless if a kid is ranked in the '50s or '90s...why shouldn't a fan base be excited about it? It will likely be a really good player regardless. Let's look at some schools with 2014 commits from kids ranked lower than Delgado:
Georgetown
Villanova
Alabama
Missouri
Cal
Arkansas
Maryland

Get my point...???

While that may be true it is nice to know that other conference mates have our back. They not only defend us but they bring valuable facts to the table as well. One of the things I like about this site is that while we all want to win everyone recognizes that all members do bring something to the table in terms of value to the conference.

Keep the faith fellow Pirate! Seton Hall is doing great things!

No problem! I'll defend anybody when they are getting wrongly attacked. Lots of idiots on message boards throwing out blatantly false information...drives me crazy.

Yeah we got Seton Hall's back.

Let me double check your "facts":

Jeff Bzdelik: 144-164, .467
Craig Robinson: 107-116, .479
Pat Chambers: 64-68, .485
Kevin Willard: 94-97, .492
Tony Barbee: 117-111, .513
Billy Kennedy: 232-210, .535
Bill Carmody: 284-245, .537
Olly Ournell: 424-355, .551
Brian Gregory: 199-127, .610

Way to get Seton Hall's back with a bunch of bs made up facts on your part.

I thought Kevin Willard was the worst, but turns out he is only the 4th worst career record among major college basketball programs. Although, it is stretch to call Seton Hall a major program, despite the major caliber company they keep.

And I don't knock this new recruit, but if this board is really going to go nutty over a guy ranked in the 70-80 range, then this is truly a mid-major conference. Landing a guy ranked 75 or so should be routine and not cause for people to go nutty. Really, act like you've been there before.
