Stever,
Not that i pay much attention to Ken Pom, but as of this morning 7 Big East teams were in KenPom's Top-50. Seven. For 3 months all we've heard is "Ken Pom this, and Ken Pom that", but now with 7 BE teams in his Top-50 apparently we're back to talking about RPI only, while Ken Pom is lost at sea.

Folks here have wanted to focus on RPI because the AAC has no one in the top 60 with RPI. Cincy and UConn aren't just safe in there- but in the top 35 with Ken Pom.....

Creighton is a team that is great in Ken Pom- but their RPI is awful. They aren't dead by any stretch- but they have to get their RPI up. Teams with RPI's in the 90's no matter how good their KP is don't make it. OR at least haven't- I do think we're going to see the advanced metrics matter more and more and more.

Glad Cincy beat UConn. Helps the Big East since we beat them twice this year.

RPI is more important, but Stever does tend to use whatever metric Big East does worst in.

Glad you're a Big East fan but as a SJU fan I don't feel any sympathy for UConn whatsoever lol.

Pardon the interruption, and nothing much new from what we know already, but in the college notebook section of Florida Times-Union today, they have another article on David Boren wanting to plant the seeds for a resolution to move the Big 12 to 12 teams. The article went on to note that the Big 12's presidents, chancellors, and athletic directors will meet Thursday and Friday in Dallas. Though they are meeting, the paper further noted that they "has been little public interest" from its members for expansion beyond the 10 schools.

BTW, Boren is 74 years old. How much longer will he be around to push for change?

UCONN and UC get to remain in hell, perhaps.

Is it even a slam dunk that they just choose those two schools?

EMT,

I wasn't implying that, although I obviously see how it read that way.

I do believe UC is one of the front runners should the big 12 expand. I seriously doubt that UCONN would have a crack at it. I mentioned the latter because of their potential place in Big East expansion, if that ever comes about.

For those that don't think that SMU is helping the AAC, look tonight. Houston upset SMU. Houston's RPI jumped from 130 up to 102. With what Houston is projected to do rest of the season- a really good shot now that Houston will finish in the top 100 RPI. So all the wins that teams are getting against them from teams like UConn, Cincy- those are now going to be top 100 wins.... Losses to them won't be bad losses.

Houston has no shot at tourney though because they too scheduled like crap OOC. Guess I understand a bit more with Houston than I do some other programs- but still- that logic just is dumb to me. Although it wouldn't shock me if they were able to win 3 in March and steal a bid.
