AKINJO AND LEBLANC TRANSFERRING!

The home for Big East hoops

I think it's safe to assume that things will get worse before they get better. The unfortunate part is that it will take time to rebuild effectively. Grad transfers can patch things up for a season, but Ewing essentially lost over half of his first two recruiting classes (Sodom, Walker, Carter, Akinjo and LeBlanc). The only recruits left are Blair and Pickett.

Hoyas' LeBlanc, teammates, face restraining orders in civil suit - 247sports.com – December 3, 2019 (2 Hours ago)
Two Georgetown basketball players, Josh LeBlanc and Galen Alexander, were both served temporary restraining orders earlier this month in a pending civil case in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, according to court documents obtained by 247Sports. In a separate filing by a second plaintiff, a temporary restraining order was requested against Georgetown freshman Myron Gardner. LeBlanc was removed from the Georgetown basketball team for the season on Monday and later entered the transfer portal. Alexander, a junior forward, remains with the team, as does Gardner.

The plaintiff initially filed her complaint on Nov. 5, citing an “alleged burglary that I believe Joshua LeBlanc committed against me on Sept. 16, 2019. Joshua threatened bodily harm against myself and my roommate. He continued to threaten me verbally and via text message in the following week.”

The second complaint filed against Gardner on Nov. 12 accuses him of “sexual harassment and assault” on Sept. 15 at the plaintiff’s home. The plaintiff also accuses Gardner’s friends – LeBlanc and Alexander – of burglary of her home.

Earlier Monday Georgetown released a statement saying LeBlanc and star point guard James Akinjo would not play again this season. Both later entered the transfer portal. Akinjo is not named in any of the court documents viewed by 247Sports.

"Georgetown University men's basketball players James Akinjo and Josh LeBlanc will not be playing for the men's basketball team effective immediately and will not be members of the team for the remainder of the season," head coach Patrick Ewing said in a statement earlier Monday.

Looks like Akinjo left just as a personal decision to transfer. He wasn't linked to any crime. LeBlanc was and now he's off the team. Gardner and Alexander were also linked but for now remain on the team.

I doubt Akinjo left on his own terms. Doesn't make sense to transfer before the semester ends. His issue likely just hasn't leaked to the press yet.

How much of a drop off is Georgetown's backup PG? Akinjo has put up good numbers this year, but below expectations given his freshman season.

Whether you are a Hoyas fan, a Big East fan, or not a fan at all, it's depressing to hear news like this.

Wow! Reminds me of the old military days. We’re gonna “right size” this organization (for reasons both good and bad). Cut training and maintenance and double the workload for the remaining peons. “We’ll be fine.” Yeah right!
