SHU has played with fire going down big every game and found miracles to come out victorious. Eventually you won't win these and get burnt. Luck only lasts so long.

The consistent ability to come from behind to win is the sign of a good team, not luck.

That said, they're still playing with fire with all the slow starts as playing from behind is difficult and taxing. Eventually they weren't gonna make it all the way back and that happened tonight (also in the St. Louis game).

It would be nice to see them use these big second halves to pull away for once instead of fight their way back into the game.

EDIT: reading error on my part. On first glance thought it said SJU. Never the less, still disagree. Other than the game against St. John’s which truly should have been a loss because of a late game steal, seton hall has found legitimate ways to win games. Even if it’s come from behind, still counts all the same and it isn’t luck. Even the St. John’s game, it wasn’t luck that the game was close, they earned their way back in. Of course the ref made a horrible error but nothing about what seton hall is doing is luck. Shavar Reynolds still had to rise up and hit a clutch shot

SJ has much more talent on paper than SHU. When we win close it's because we should have. The only teams with as much or more talent as us on paper are Marquette and Nova. Not saying the best or will finish ahead of, but in terms of talent. SHU was not supposed to compete this year seriously and while they're scrappy they don't have the firepower or experience this year to really compete for a bid IMO. They have Powell...that's it. Lots of solid but nothing special players other than him. If they can recruit well they can have another legit team in another year or two.

You come off very pretentious and as a fellow fan of a team that has accomplished nothing for two decades. Being pretentious doesn’t make much sense.

If you actually watch seton hall, they have more than Powell. “They can have a legit team in another year or two” they have a legit team NOW. These “special” players you speak of, doesn’t Kentucky have a roster full? Didn’t matter. I’d respect seton hall a little more. They have represented the big east extremely well in non conference and they are 2-1 (just like us) in the big east. Only loss was @ a much improved DePaul team that challenged and even controlled 30 minutes of a game @nova.

Being pretentious when we win and then calling for a complete program rebuild when we lose is getting pretty old

Great post. So tired of the Mayhem. He’s done nothing but trash Mullin and the program when we lose or don’t win by a large enough margin but has the gall to criticize SHU who has had multiple years of NCAA bids and a Big East tournament championship in 2016. He’s as irritating (to me) as Stever but more cringe-inducing because he claims to be a fan of SJU.

Mayhem was like a kid on Christmas morning at the start of this season. After years of desperately waiting, the core 4 was finally gone and SHU would finally be terrible! And then, he essentially got a stocking full of coal. Now he's desperately reaching to find ways to write them off and make excuses for why they're winning.

It actually feels like he hates SHU more than he likes SJU.

I'll agree with him that SJU has more individual talent in their starting 5, but that's not everything. SHU has more size, more depth, and a team full of players that know their roles and play well together. There's more than one way to build a quality basketball team.
