  1. Marquette - Mom, Dad, one sister, several cousins, several uncles, one nephew - tons of family went to Marquette.
  2. Xavier - can't put my finger on it but have always liked X. Really like the Cintas arena, wish VU could have something similar.
  3. PC - never liked PC at all until Cooley took over. Really like what he has done and how he comes across on TV and media.
  4. DePaul, Butler, Creighton - don't have strong feelings one way or the other.
  5. Seton Hall, St. John's - never cared much for either program, particularly St. John's.
  6. Georgetown - the gap between Georgetown and all other programs is pretty large. Watching Georgetown lose always puts a smile on my face.

I can't say I really have another team I consistently root for in conference play, but if I had to pick one it would be Providence. I feel like we're similar schools that couldn't quite get over the hump in the old Big east and have benefitted similarly from realignment. It was great seeing them win the BET in 2014 and then very exciting to be able to experience it with Seton Hall in 2016.

More so than rooting for a team, I tend to root against one team - and that's St. John's. My dislike for them is more about the fans than about the actual team. They're like the Yankees to Seton Hall's Mets - I'm sick and tired of hearing how important they are because they were good 20 years ago and don't worry they'll be that good again soon. That being said, I don't want St. John's to be bad - just not as good as Seton Hall. To be at your best, you need a strong rival to push you and I truly think Seton Hall-St. John's can be a rivalry worthy of national attention if both teams can get and stay good at the same time.

Okay, 25+ years ago. I was just throwing a number out there rather than looking for specifics, but I suppose exactly 20 years ago falls in that period when they weren't good between the Carnesecca and Jarvis eras.

We made the elite 8 18 years ago, well it will be 19 by this march. Soooooo yeah, we were just fine 20 years ago.

Well 18 and 19 aren't 20, right? SJU wasn't good in 96-97, but that's besides the point. I was attempting to reference the Carnesecca era when St. John's was consistently excellect, but I just randomly pulled the number 20, which undershot it by a few years.

For me, PC, Villanova and Georgetown are tops on my list - my close circle of friends include alumni from all 3 schools.....we all tend to root for each other....although i should really hate georgetown since they may have prevented us from winning the one national championship i could have seen in my lifetime....

would be nice to see DePaul get better since SJU and DePaul are both Vincentian schools....

it's great to root for all 10 schools since i do feel like it's an "us against the world" mentality in the conference....

For me, it's Creighton at the top and Butler at the bottom. I don't really care about any other teams, though I respect Villanova a lot and dislike Marquette for that game a few years ago in the tournament.

OOC, I root for everybody except Butler. Of course, in the tournament, I hold my nose and try to support them, but it's not easy. As long as Xavier is doing well, I don't mind, but once we go out, Butler better go down, too, ha ha.

Creighton was always the team I wanted to be in the same conference with, so the fact it worked out is pretty awesome. I hope they have a great season and keep building the program. I would love to see X and Creighton atop the Big East on a regular basis.

To piggyback off how I previously said I guess Providence if anyone for me, it's really more of a situation where I tend to root for the "Founding Five" (including Villanova even though they actually joined in year 2) over the newer schools. It's nothing against the other 5 schools in the league, just that those rivalries go back a long way and it's nice to see all of them doing well again after most of them struggled at times towards the end of the football Big East era.

Love and cheer for all conference mates during OOC and the post season, like practically everyone else.

Otherwise, and overall:

1. Villanova. The gold standard for me.

2. Georgetown. I believe them winning has strategic value to the Big East.

3. Marquette and Creighton. Great schools. GO JESUITS!

4. Providence. Classy school and program in my book.

5. Seton Hall. Like the program and it would be further proof that the Big East as reconfigured would be optimal if Willard brings the Pirates all the way back.

6. St. Johns and DePaul. I would like to see our resident Gotham I and Gotham II programs fully wake-up to go onto strong ratings in key markets.

7. Butler. The Little Engine That Could. Finally cleaned up the barn and fixed its clocks and half-ass water fountains. Fast becoming Little Brother v2. Actually, except for visiting the BUHOOPS board from time to time to check out the drivel they put up about X, I like Butler.

This truly is a unique conference experience. In no way could you possibly enjoy this dynamic in the A10, as it has too much deadwood and too many teams that will never be able to amount to anything. None of that hold true with the Big East, and that includes DePaul. A new facility in Chicago versus Fordham and LossSalle continuing to play in relics, etc.

Except this would be the case when the little brother has accomplished more and big brother is jealous of those two RECENT final four banners.

Sorry, had to. But now I hate myself because I sound like an Indiana fan.

NYC is Metropolis. Chicago is Gotham.

Posts like this are EXACTLY why most Butler fans hate Xavier.

"Little Brother." LOL. Make a Final Four and we'll talk.
