I can't say I really have another team I consistently root for in conference play, but if I had to pick one it would be Providence. I feel like we're similar schools that couldn't quite get over the hump in the old Big east and have benefitted similarly from realignment. It was great seeing them win the BET in 2014 and then very exciting to be able to experience it with Seton Hall in 2016.
More so than rooting for a team, I tend to root against one team - and that's St. John's. My dislike for them is more about the fans than about the actual team. They're like the Yankees to Seton Hall's Mets - I'm sick and tired of hearing how important they are because they were good 20 years ago and don't worry they'll be that good again soon. That being said, I don't want St. John's to be bad - just not as good as Seton Hall. To be at your best, you need a strong rival to push you and I truly think Seton Hall-St. John's can be a rivalry worthy of national attention if both teams can get and stay good at the same time.
Okay, 25+ years ago. I was just throwing a number out there rather than looking for specifics, but I suppose exactly 20 years ago falls in that period when they weren't good between the Carnesecca and Jarvis eras.

We made the elite 8 18 years ago, well it will be 19 by this march. Soooooo yeah, we were just fine 20 years ago.

7. Butler. The Little Engine That Could. Finally cleaned up the barn and fixed its clocks and half-ass water fountains. Fast becoming Little Brother v2. Actually, except for visiting the BUHOOPS board from time to time to check out the drivel they put up about X, I like Butler.
