Re: the NCAA...how is this any different than someone going to a prep school for a 5th year? Didn't Jalen Reynolds enter Xavier after a 5th prep year and play immediately? Not sure why that is OK and this is not.

Re: impact on Nova. I don't see it hurting them in the BE nearly as much as in March. They lost Ochefu and added Painter 6'11" and Paschall (6'6", thick, long arms and a 40" vertical). Add in 6'8" Reynolds who physically is more man than boy, and who filled in admirably when called upon last year, and I think we'll have the size to compete. Other than maybe Hayes from G'town I don't see any BE big men pounding them inside. Just like UNC was supposed to out-size us, Jay knows how to mitigate size with perimeter pressure and team rebounding. We just won't have that go to big to throw it down to in the post. But expect our wings to post people up; we did that a bunch last year anyway.

Secondly, at this point Omari was going to contribute mostly just offensively and on the glass. There were/are legitimate concerns about his ability to plug in defensively. In some ways, him not being on the floor could help. I am of the belief that they won the NC last year b/c of their D and b/c they took care of the ball. Not sure any of that is going to change drastically. Reynolds was a pretty good perimeter defender, and fit in well with our switching D. If he can pair Reynolds, Paschal, Bridges and Hart w/ Booth or Brunson, they're going to be matchup nightmares on both sides of the ball. Also let's be honest, with Hart, Jenkins, Booth, Brunson, Bridges and Paschall does anyone think this team is going to struggle scoring the ball?

So my prediction. A slight step back... Only 15-3 in conference this year. And only 2 games clear of the 2nd place team. #2 or 3 seed. This team / program is very deep. It's time to show it.
Go Nova!

Players typically go to prep school the year after they graduate high school. They can play right away after prep school because it is a year later.

Sorry, low blow. That being said, happy that you have something to hang your hat on.

Awwww are your feewings hurt? Jokes about players long gone aren't low blows. I could make a Gary McClain cocaine joke but who really cares about the past.

You can't have thin skin while sitting on the top. Are you guys Duke fans now?

Dude, we are still going to kick your teeth in this year. Have fun in the basement of the Big East AGAIN. Maybe you will be ranked around 7th AT BEST. Not sure if that will get you in any type of postseason, I am sure you are used to that by now, but still, if you win more than 1 game in the Big East this year that will be a MAJOR victory for St. John's just the same! GODSPEED!

How is your coaching staff getting along by the way? Not so good?

Hahahaha you guys are soooooo sensitive! Gonna cry because you get a little teasing? hahahaha buncha big bad Nova fans can't take a little ribbing!

Look everyone the new version of the Duke fan has arrived!!!!

I wonder if posters on redmen.com are going to start crying again about how bad Villanova fans are because some loudmouth SJU fan on this board decides to start making stupid comments. "I CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT THEY ARE SAYING! WHY WOULD THEY SAY SUCH THINGS?!?!?!" Maybe it has something to do with your delusional fans, coming from a program that has done F'ing zilch to help the Big East in the last 15+ years, don't know when to keep their mouths shut. Bottom feeders.

I must respond with not one but MULTIPLE POSTS about how awful you truly are! hahahahaha Keep crying big boy. Hold onto that sense of superiority for as long as you can.

BTW what are you gonna do? Fight a random SJU fan at wells fargo because of a gif on here? hahaha Way to go Philly, keeping it classy!

I am truly happy for you though that you have something to cheer for and Spellman at least gives you something to smile about and distract you from your recent history/misery. God knows, you need it. You guys still play in the Big East right? How was that last tourney run? However, I concede, the past is the past...Can't help but wonder though, how long since you were even relevant??? But chin up, Slice will help Chris on the sideline and with that recruiting.... oh, wait...

Seriously, talking trash with the dumpster fire that is in Queens?? Win a few first will ya..

Chris is on our sideline and our recruiting is just fine. If you're gonna talk smack have it at least make sense. Oh and 2 years ago we lost to an 8 seed as a 9 seed so once agin, make some sense before you try and trash talk.

Ladies and gentlemen the new Duke fans!

It baffles me that nova and SJU fans still go at it like this. Like at least last year St. John's fans could argue that nova wasn't winning in the tournament much more then SJU in the NBE era but now...

They have a national championship under their belt. We won one game in conference last season. I understand you were just poking fun but seriously we have our own problems we don't need to set off nova fans and have them tear up our school and program on a message board so why instigate?

1) NCAA is not picking on Nova any other school would have had the same ruling, and UNC will get some comeuppance they dragged it out by discovering new infractions that's the only reason they haven't been hit yet. Probably won't get all they deserve but they're not going to go free.

2) with Nova winning the title the BE has nothing left to prove. We can stop all togetherness and get back to hating each other like the good ole big east.

Any dislike for Georgetown stems not from reasons you are thinking of, it's because your fans never had any togetherness with the new Big East (you're above us?) and you've underachieved on the court. You're kind of like the apathetic-couldn't-care-less burnout rich boy version of St. Johns fans, who try in earnest to be A-holes but are equally unimpressive on the hardwood.

And of course Stever says he's a Hoya, so there's that as well.

I really hope this year or at least very soon we start hating (and fearing) you because you're good.

We need all our bluebloods to be bluebloods again.

Then this conference will make the ACC look like the obtuse hicks that they are.

Why shouldn't we? I hate every school NOT named St. John's and you should too. Especially the other OG BE schools! It's all cyclical, they are kicking our butts now and soon enough we'll be kicking their butts. It's fun watching them fly off the handle like petulant children. It's also the off season, that means these boards get boring. Nothing like jabbing those cats and making them hiss to pass the time.

Jalen was ruled inelgible and sat out his entire freshman year along with Myles Davis.
